I put a 1.352 cobra on mine this summer. It's not studded. I would have preferred to put the ripsaw II on but they don't make a 144". I've heard it is soft so I'm keeping an eye on it for wear. So far have about 2000km and still looks great. I ride primarily groomed hardpacked Quebec trails. I like it better than stock and find that it hooks up better in loose snow and seems to work just as well on hardpack.

I love the ripsaw 2. BUT If your gonna stud it I really like the kimpex shotgun X. It's got 144 molded holes in it already so it's like a reinforced hole at every stud. Not a drilled hole. Makes it really easy to install studs too. I put it on my 03 Rev and love It. My kids still ride it and it's held up really well

Why wouldn't you recommend studding the ripsaw 2? Just for the simplicity of studding the kimpex? I have heard good things about the ripsaw how is it out of the hole? And what size are you running?

Yes the ease and the reinforced holes. I think studs are tuff on tracks. Personally I don't stud anymore. I put 1-1/4" on the rev. I've always believed studs were for stopping and yes they hook up great on ice but it sounds like you mostly ride trails. I'm no expert nor do I claim to be but I'm just not sure how much studs really help hooking up in trail conditions, I'm sure many would disagree.

I have also heard too many stories of studs going thru heat exchanger on these nytros. just my 2 cents. And yes the ripsaw 2 on a nytro is awesome out of the hole Even without studs.

Yea unless you're running on glare ice I'd neaver stud a track either. Seen far to many heat exchangers torn wide open and even a few good motors ruined. I run a 1.75" back country track and aside from ice never run out of traction with it. At times it's a little to much actually. haven't been able to powerslide around corners at all. Admittely I've never tried it with all the transfer taken out either.

Running the Rip2 that came on my 2013. Studded 132 up the middle.
GREAT track. Wicked traction, so far proving to be durable and it has seen a couple ugly winters with low snow and hurtin' conditions.
It is based on the old Predator track which has an open repeating centre paddle design with stiff durometer lugs with the outer paddles rounded allowing some lateral slip.
It's all clipped too.
I've been ridin' and studdin' tracks for more than 30yrs.....this is the best hardpack trail track I've ever run.
It's also a very good loose snow track while a ideal hardpack track...hard to get that combination.
Don't buy a Cobra...won't hold up and doesn't hook on hardpack nearly as well.

Ok I think I'll be pulling the trigger on the rip saw 2 right now a couple websites are selling them for $450 brand new which doesn't seem terrible

I love my Ripsaw! I have mine studded down the middle in a 2-4 pattern. I have the 136 conversion and have 162 studs. I personally stud everything, even my kid's sleds for the traction and the extra stopping power. Studs make a huge difference on the trails and ice but none in the powder. I have never ripped out a stud in 25+ yrs of riding. Hope I didn't just jinx myself, knock on wood!!

I put a 136" Ripsaw 2 on mine last year and didn't stud it. Been a long time since I ran without but I've read too many posts about guys throwing studs through heat exchangers and comprising their motors. One thing I've really noticed is that this track lets you kick the #*$&@ end out turning. NICE!
