Help me out here guys. Is the goal to have the fastest, best handling sled on the market or the fastest, best handling Yamaha? If so, lets be realistic. Its not a Yamaha. Don't blast me too quick. I love my RX1 and will keep it for lots of reasons, but an RX1 or Apex is still not going to be the fastest, lightest, best handling sled out there.

Snowaddict - I wouldn't worry about it. The Apex might get a couple more mph on the top end and a little quicker low end response, but not enough of a difference that anyone is gonna leave you on it. Unless they are that much better of a driver than you are. You may have to work a little harder in the bumps but you should be ok.
Red - your not gonna get the fastest/lightest/besthandling sled in one package. Revs and Firecats are gonna be the quickest in bumpy and tight trails. Machz's, Fusions, Zr9's and Apexs are gonna take the smoother faster trails.
MachZ's are the fastest straightline.
Mixing of all three assuming top end speed is important - the MachZ and Apex have to be at the top of the list.

Did Yamaha not say that the 05s were the latest greatest sled that ever hit snow.
Dont know about you bros but i am giving my checkbook a rest, and riding my 05 til the wheels fall off.
Hell its a yamaha with the quality we expect from them why should we trade every year,my dealer dont even want my 05.

My dealer did not come out and say he didn't want my 05 but the trade value he gave me spoke volumes. I'll be riding the 05 for years to come, a little mod here and there will suit me just fine. Now if I can just get my wife off her stinky Polaris...

disappointing as well
After strongly considering upgrading from my '05 to the '06, I think I've finally made my mind up. I really don't have any major complaints about my RX1 (minor things like bushings, etc.) That coupled with the fact I'd be losing at least $2K has allowed me to decide not to trade yet. Sure I'll get my @ss kicked by my father and 2 buddies getting Apexes and it'll give me some humility, but hey that's life sometimes. Like my father always told me, somebody's always gone have something bigger and faster. I guess this way too, if I wait a year, I'll have something they don't and maybe the '07 Apex will be even tweaked a little more than the '06. I should follow my own advice anyways and not buy something the first year it's out. So far that's worked good for me ('99 SRX and '05 RX1.) One other thing this means is that by the end of summer my '05 will no longer be stock. Hopefully, Matt will help with this. Upgrades here I come.

Red2003 said:So you haven't ridden an Apex, you don't have an RX1 modded the way I suggest and you are so sure of what you're saying because......??????
I don't need to ride an Apex to know it's better than a modded RX-1. What do you think we've been doing all along to our RX-1's, and we're still not satisfied? There are testimonials and radical design changes to back up what I'm saying too. My friends rode them and one of them is a die-hard REV guy who just ordered an Attak, the other owns a Warrior. If it were possible to make a Warrior an Attak, then he could've saved $4000 dollars. I'm also pretty sure that there aren't any Yamaha engineers banging their heads on their desks saying,
"Gee, I wish I would have thought to make the A-arms wider, the swaybar stiffer, add an articulated riser, and a big fat seat to the RX-1." either.
But I don't negate the fact that if you modded your RX-1, it would handle better than...an RX-1. Don't worry, I'm in the same boat as I will be doing allot to improve mine anyway - but it will NEVER be an Apex or an Attak.

:ORC looks like the hype got you already. Up until this point, NO ONE has ever had the opportunity, and in such numbers, to test drive a radically redesigned, pre-production model before ordering one - except maybe the sleds with the bold new graphics. Very few people knew anything about the RX-1, the mono-shock, or Vector right? So I guess everyone, including yourself got taken hook, line, and sinker by Yamaha's ad boys already huh? I just think they're closer to delivering on what they promise this time around.
