from RS general talk to Apex general talk!!!! Friday I traded my '10 Vector GT and my '11 FZ8 in on a leftover '12 Apex. Smokin' deal! Not picking it up until the end of the month but gonna have the dealer do some work to it. 153 studs down the middle with extra tunnel protection, Dupont slides, and exhaust. Going to order the Ulmer clutch kit this week and do that myself as I did the same to my Vector. My question to you Apex owners is this: Bender trail silencer or the Hauck trail silencer?
I had the Hauck on my Vector. Loved the sound!!! Wasn't overbearing at all! Problem was installation was a bear and when pinning the throttle from a dead stop, it would cut out 3-4 times up to about 50 mph. A power commander would fix that issue but I don't want one of those. The Bender looks easy to install but never heard the trail version before. Looked on youtube but hard to determine. Another question for you guys, will the Hauck exhaust cut out on the Apex like my Vector? Will the Bender cause it to cut out also? Looking for feedback from those of you that have either the Hauck trail silencer or the Bender trail silencer. Thanks a bunch!!
Also, for those of you with the Ulmer clutch kit installed without different gearing, how does it work on the Apex? It definitely woke up the Vector, I know that!!

Why not use the clutch kit from your Vector and set it up for the Apex? You might need different springs or helix though.

What apex? standard, XTX or SE? the new apexs run really lean... a power commander might be something to look at, ulmer can help you out with that too!

I made the mistake and told the dealer it has Ulmer clutching. No biggie, I'll just order another kit!Grimm said:Why not use the clutch kit from your Vector and set it up for the Apex? You might need a different helix though.

Here is a vid of the Bender on my 11 Apex.

As for the noise level, I met a guy last winter with a Hauck silencer on his 12 Apex and it is louder than my Bender. The Bender silencer is a smaller version of the stock one with a bigger inlet pipe and looks completely stock on the sled. The Hauck outlet pipes do not look stock on the sled.

Does it cut out at all on a hard acceleration? What other mods do you have? I really like the sound of that Bender. It looks much easier to install also.sx7001 said:Here is a vid of the Bender on my 11 Apex.

I have a Pc5 but I ran it with all blocks set to 0 for testing and it ran perfect. The install took just under a half hour, too easy.

Is the installation a matter of removing the seat and tail lamp? Or do you have to drop the rear suspension down?sx7001 said:I have a Pc5 but I ran it with all blocks set to 0 for testing and it ran perfect. The install took just under a half hour, too easy.

All you have to do is remove the seat, plastic around the pipes and remove the heat shield. Very easy to do on the new sleds. Pull the rubber plug on the tunnel to get access to the clamp and the silencer pulls off.

That's great news. I'm not overly mechanically inclined but I can do a few things!! This sounds easy enough! I'm just glad no power commander is needed for this. I spoke to Bender today and they said the back pressure with their silencer is the same as the stock one, therefore no PC5 needed. He told me to wait to buy it until the middle of this month because they are going to put them on sale, along with a lot of other stuff, hmmmmm...................sx7001 said:IAVECTORGT said:Is the installation a matter of removing the seat and tail lamp?
