Just Purchased new sled!

Summer is way too long I seem to spending a lot of time on old post when 2011 Apex first came out. I'm watching Yamaha videos explaining all the technology and doing a lot of reading up on first ride reviews. This is insane I just want to try it, there's snow in Colorado right? What about Alaska?? From what I see this machine will make my 06 look stupid, I rode with a guy who has an XTX and he blew by me and got better fuel mileage on a few occasions during our 3 day trip. These sleds seem to just rip and the sound wow I thought the 06 sounded awesome! I do have a question or 2, Exup needs to be serviced every season? Just some lubrication? There are no hand warmer issues with the 2011 right? Do the 2011 have titanium y pipes or did they change it to stainless steel? The fuel relay is it red top from OEM or is that an add on? All questions I will ask the dealer I bought it from before delivery but since he is closed right now I will ask here since I'm waiting for snow.

One last thing when I started it I noticed code f_000 on the dash. My dealer has assured me the machine will be all cleaned up with parts installed and running 100% before delivery. I'm just curious as to what that code means?

fuel level is low, shows you how many miles you have gone since the light came on.

exup wires stretch over time and need to be brought back into adjustment. I have 3100 miles and mine are great, pulled the sled apart at like 1500-2000 to inspect them and it was dead nuts. The sled will start to get bad MPG and i believe lose top end that is when you know the cables need to be adjusted. Hand warmers work awesome. And I do believe the pipes are still TI not SS. And these sleds do run good, on youtube there is a video of a newer apex up in canada running with all 800 etecs and beats them in a drag race.

My 06 stomped 2 of my in laws 800 etecs so I'm not worried about that. Thanks for the info I'll be keeping an eye on that.

I have 2 2011 apex's. I just sold my wifes 2007 for a 2011 with 2k miles for 7,500. The 2007 had more top end, but in the mid range the 2011 and up apex's are untouchable. The 2011 is 10x the sled the 2007 is even wthout power steering. My 2011 has 12,700 miles on it, and not a dime in maintenance other than oil changes, slides, and carbides. At 7500 miles on the 2007 I had the exhaust out 4 times to fix donuts, cracked muffler and flex pipes. From 30-90 on your 2011 you better hold on, it's really unreal how quickly it gets there, but kinda falls flat up top, where the 2007 had a little more pull. The 2011 sits higher where the 06 and 07 you were seated lower which i hated but the wife didn't notice. Power steering just adds to the whole package. Be careful studding it if it isn't already. DO NOT go more than 1.325" studs.

Also, there are no hand warmer issues, they work very well. I checked my exup one time at 8k miles, and was in spec. Never worried about it again. The red relay is not standard on the 2011. I changed mine out. I still have problems starting the sled when its real cold out, like -10 or more. The stock cig lighter sucks, so I added rocks power port and it works great. Just changed the oil filter for the second time after the 500 mile change, I believe in following the service recs by yamaha, cuz i'm sure i'm not as smart as their engineers.

Thanks I was worried about donuts might do then after the next season I don't want the y pipes to blow apart. Not as much top end? Uh oh maybe my in laws 800 will do better this year Lol I will probably get the exhaust checked and shock serviced after I ride it this season just to be in the safe side. It already has studs I'll have to check for signs of damage or scratching somewhere. I have confidence that my dealer did it right. I will be buying a fuel relay it it's not already in it very cheap part.

what is the deal with a red fuel relay? Is it a better relay for really cold weather conditions?
The red relay is a updated one.
