Lake fun today

This sounds like the very simple solution to the problem. What do you think Knapp Attack?
If you drill a hole in the filler you will run the chance of Introducing moisture to your oil system( small amount of course ). I dont think A small hole would relieve all the pressure. Pull the hose off and start the sled. There's a lot of pressure. I was surprised.

Look up my thread. "Roll over valve problem". On page 5 you will see the electronic tether operated valve.

I think this is the safest and best bet to stop this problem.

How did ever yammie and doo 4s sleds have their setup on other sleds?

So the issue is not the valve really, its the piss poor seal on the oil tank, so pressure makes it leak over time. I assume if valve freezes it unfreezes pretty quick since its a zillion degrees under hood on right side near turbo/muffler.

Why did cat make the oil tank two piece? Why not a tank like apex had? Grrr

I was thinking the same thing Dan. Why the heck didn't they just make the oil tank / case cover one piece? How nice would that be not having to worry about that stupid caulk seal around the oil tank.

What about just cutting down that little spring abit? Making it open easier so pressure wont build as high in tank.

What I still dont understand is, on a rollover where specifically does it leak out? I guess Im a picture guy and was hoping for pics so I can start to wrap my head around this and come with a fix.

If it wasnt minus 30 up here for days and days I would be out there looking at it, lol.

your right dan that the major design flaw is the tank seal but the valve being "normal closed"is also the problem. A "normally open" while running would work better. That's the idea of the tether . Still if the machine tips over and keeps running the "normal open " would not work.

The stock valve in a perfect world with a solid tank would work best. The slight pressure would help keep oil vapors in the tank, and even if the sled was running in a roll over situation not much oil would come out because the vlave is barely cracked open.

I think we need to bring these sleds to the dealers to get this problem fixed in the future. If the dealers don't see them yamaha will never fix the problem.

Awesome Don! Great to hear this. Im very impressed so far with my winder you sold me brother, I have never rode any sled that takes the bumps in such stride, and keeps its composier so well in junk, the 850 is all over the place and IMO hard to keep the front end in check(ski lift ect).

Dan
Dan Are you noticing more fun factor with your stock RTX ?
