Lake fun today

It can't hurt just eliminating it all together can it?

Won't hurt at all as long as you don't roll it over. The problem with the factory valve is it takes pressure to open it and when it freezes shut and won't open is the pressure blows the seal out of the oil tank.

Factory valve is a crap design really.

Just unhook it and hook the two lines together if nothing else. Just don't roll it over!

So, who's proven the 850 to have "4stroke reliability"? No one. What about the claim "most powerful 2stroke in it's class" first, no other manufacturer makes an 850. Also I'm pretty sure the Polaris 800 has given skidoo a strong run!
What about the inaccurate speedo? Seems to be off by 10%+. Guys think their going 120. A little closer to 108. Hahaha......skidoo can't get the speedo right at this stage in the game. F****** joke!

I was sold a bill of goods and Yamaha/cat has meet or exceeded my expectations. Thanks again, Yamaha!

Skidoo has sold a bill of goods. Which one have they delivered on, IDK? I guess it's just as easy to suck in a little pride and keep riding......blind loyalty is not my problem, it's theirs.

During a rollover what exactly does the valve do?

The roll over valve prevents the oil in the tank from running out of the vent in the event of a roll over. If the oil comes out the vent and spills out around engine you run a large risk of fire.

You can remove the spring and plunger from the roll over valve to by pass it. But it's a bad idea due to the fire risk.

A new Doo 850 was in our group today. That and a Poo Rush 800 switchback were the fastest 2 strokes in our group. I was beating the 850 by at least 5-10mph by the way I was pulling away over 90. It got worse above 100. We were all in the same conditions so there were no excuses. Broke her in hard today lake riding almost 75 miles on our huge 31 mile lake. RPM's were up higher and motor felt stronger at the end of the day. Thank God no broken belts!!

Heard a rumor 4 stroke solutions has their roll over valve very close to done for the sidewinder..

Fourload, today was "payday."

It's always good when a tough decision pays off.

Maybe you'll be able to covert one or two.

Great kills!!!!!

Next time stop and grab the clutches and check for temps. I did mine today. My Clutches are cool. Unbelievable.....

MY HARD CORE DOO RIDING BUDDY NOW OWNS A WINDER!!!

After last season my hard core Doo riding partner now owns a Winder. He has been mislead by his speedo for years. After a few rides with him on his 850X and me on my Winder he found out the hard way he was not doing 120mph+.
When he told me he hit 120-121 a few times on our trip I handed him my GPS and told him there is no way when I was on my Winder following him at around 103ish. He was in total disbelief when the GPS would only register the max of 104mph when his speedo was reading 119+.
This was not on just one pull but rather on several long hard pack sections.
My Winder Gauge was always within 2-3mph of the GPS. He then found out why I was always waiting for him when I was leading. LOL.

Btw. 3400+ trouble free miles in my 17 LTX LE Winder last season. Riding it like I stole it 75% of the time.

He now owns a 2018 Winder do to this.!!!!!!

Whos got pics of rollover valve?
It's that valve just above your chain case Dan. A hose from the oil tank goes directly to it. That's where I disconnect my oil line when I want to remove my case cover/oil tank.

I wouldn't care one bit as long as it burns right to the ground. I have great insurance. I just don't want any of my trips ruined because the f ing rollover valve stuck and all my oil blew out of the oil tank.

Awesome Don! Great to hear this. Im very impressed so far with my winder you sold me brother, I have never rode any sled that takes the bumps in such stride, and keeps its composier so well in junk, the 850 is all over the place and IMO hard to keep the front end in check(ski lift ect).

Yeah Joe last night I found this pic too, But I was looking for the close up pic of the inside valve/spring...I did find that pic Joe had posted too. I swear I want to just eliminate it too. Not really wanting to get an oil leak due to pressure.

I have a feeling its probably OK early on, and maybe oil gums it up over time? But with these cold temps it sure seems guys might be freezing them shut? Must be enough condensation in the oil tank made and those vapors cause valve to freeze up.

Crap I have not rolled a sled since I was 9 yrs old, but with my luck it would happen the day after I remove valve...grrr.
