Not sure if many realize this but the 07 phazer fuel tanks held 1.1 more gallons than the 08-current phazers. The 07 tanks will fit on the 08 and up phazers. If you do the swap you will have to eliminate the side tank covers that came on the sled. The top tank cover would still be used.
I remember doing some trial fit ups last season and then forgot about it.
If anyone is looking for a cheap way to increase fuel range I have several 07 tanks in stock. $35 plus shipping.

Great suggestion Travis. That is something to consider for sure. This might have to be a summer mod for me next year.
Thanks, G.B.

Very interesting, especially since I just parted out an '07 and my son's is an '09. Something worth looking into. Thanks for the info!

I have an 07 phazer, 05 Vector & 06 Apex SC. and I find even the 07 Phazer tank is too small. It could use at least another 2.5 gallon capacity to give me the same range as the Vector. Always have to stop for fuel when riding with the Vector. When riding with the supercharged Apex there is no problem, Apex always needs fuel first. LOL
Ridning with friends (arctic, polaris and ski-doo 800) Im almost always out of fuel first and I already have the 07 tank
You need to be on full throttle when they are on half throttle so that sucks

Me too until I got the clutching right. Now is about the same distance unless I ride with a Old carbed Vector which is the only sled I have ever ridden with that can get 20mpg even ridden hard. Shoot for 11,500 rpm max and you will see.
Does anyone know WHERE the '07 fuel tank is bigger? I ask because there were a few reports of fires with the '07's, and the proximity of the tanks to a heat source (like the exhaust) was believed to at least be a part of the cause. I wonder if the newer tanks are designed with more area recessed away from the exhaust. If so, I'd stick with the newer tanks.

In 08 all yamaha sleds saw a reduction in fuel capacity. The tanks are thicker and essentially have a liner inside of them. Off the top of my head I think a fuel tank from an 06-07 apex holds aproximately .5 gallon more than the 08-10 tanks.

I thought about switching to an 07' also but I'M NEVER the first one to be looking for gas in my group. I don't start to worry until I have 110miles on the tank riding aggressive trail, and 60 miles of nothing but boon-docking. Low fuel light on mine pops on with exactly 2 gallons left so I know I have a good 25-30mile range on the trails.
