We’re can I order TP 14.8 rollers for primary on sidewinder in Ontario.
Thanks Pan
I got mine both Primary and Secondary from Prevost Performance out of Sudbury area great guy to deal with. I believe Turbo Dynamics is also a dealer and ship UPS always fast shipping!

Stock 14.5mm rollers in my primary are finished after 2k miles. Have a set of 16 mm sitting in toolbox. Thinking bigger rollers may be more durable but don't want to sacrifice performance.
Ive heard mixed opinions....Some say bigger rollers slow shift and apply less belt grabbing force while others say roller size only raises rpm engagement.
For 2019 Yamaha went from 14.5 to 14.8. What are disadvantages of running big rollers?
Well, did 100 miles the other night with 16mm rollers and did not notice any changes in runnability. Perhaps might be tick slower, but never did any tests to confirm or deny. I'll run them for trail rides and put the 14.5s when racing.

@ROCKERDANView attachment 143442 View attachment 143443 View attachment 143444the team clutches have been exploding too. They pop up on some of the Facebook sw/tcat groups here and there but usually get taken down quickly where the exploded yamaha clutches are allowed to stay posted.

I’m not sure this is relevant or not but I’ve been running Ulmers pink primary spring from day 1 with my TD tune bundle and I have no wear on my rollers at all and I check them frequently. It is a 30/90 rate. Could a weaker spring be easier on the bushings?

did the engagement increase with the larger rollers and if so how much? I am trying to bump my engagement up for racing.

Id prefer to see the link and thread...as to the "whole story" there. Can you link please?
As I said, I read HCS daily too, and still have yet to see the masses of clutch/belt threads that are a daily occurrence here.
With big power everything can/will eventually fail, but so far it seems the most are over here.

Yes maybe the team may be a cheaper primary than those other clutches(tap and stm) but with wider belt, need to match secondary, more pricy cat belts, and still no guarantee belts will last any longer. My stock primary rollers were hammered out quickly after installing the Hurricane Jukebox. I was way off initially on clutching(TP Orange and reverse angle helix) like many of us were early on which sure didnt help the rollers.
I installed the TP rollers, tad larger OD(14.8mm) due to thicker bushings....ran them all winter and look ok still. Will see how long they hold up.
Seems we need to find a decent primary clutch altogether. the TEAM can be the most cost effective primary to go to as its far less then a TAPP or others. Also allows for wide belts. Just not certain they hold up over time/miles? I think they are doing better then ours though.

I disagree Pete.Yes maybe the team may be a cheaper primary than those other clutches(tap and stm) but with wider belt, need to match secondary, more pricy cat belts, and still no guarantee belts will last any longer.
Ultimax is clearly the preferred belt, so same price for both widths. 8JP similar price as Ultimax too. I would not run cat belt anyway.
When you have read thousands of posts in 2 yrs on cats and yams, there is no comparison on belt life. Cats simply don't have the massive belt issues we do. TEAM is heavier, no rattle, steel spider, and MUCH wider roller surface area.

Maybe same, some parts same, except set screws on rollers, differant size sheeves, fron to back, but overall it may in fact be a worse overall clutch for big power, look at all the big boosted apes out there, with no belt problems, has anyone tried an original apex brand new clutch? Can we even buy a new unchanged old style apex clutch? Can't remember for sure but isn't this is the same clutch the Yamaha designed for the Vmax and SRX of the 90s. Only 140-145 hp at best and now we are putting 280-300 hp through them. Time for a different clutch for sure.

Correct the cats out of the thousands of posts you refer to have all had worse luck on belts than we have at the same boost set up. Can we still get an old style Yamaha apex clutch?I disagree Pete.

You just read my post, and did not understand it....I said the TEAMs 998 are NOT blowing belts, but you replied saying the TEAM did blow more belts, so just wanted to let you know.
And for the record, its about the cheapest swap out there. Not a huge expense at all! Compared to buying belt after belt.
No worries Pete, just sometimes I want to be sure you read it correctly, Anytime you want I will call you and yak it up brother...
