Longer snowflap, better cooling?

Personally, I added 1/2 bottle watter wetter and it helped only some. Light still comes on in subzero temps if riding hard. Mtx cooler is the only certain fix.

I may try ice scratchers this coming season ...

Go with the scratchers. Inexpensive, and makes a huge difference.

X2 the ones on the skis seem to work the best for me.

Spend a little time and make some that won't snap off if you use reverse, bolt them on and forget them. Mine are a little short, basically they are "snow throwers". I'm gonna try welding a stud on to them, and maybe a little "wing" to toss the snow towards the sled more

I have always suffered with the red light syndrome almost every time out since new unless powder but packed trails soon have the light on. I have installed the mtx cooler, a new long snow flap and a longer track :-o

which flap did you install? can you post a link?

You have to be careful which snoflap you get. Some of the longer ones will just fly behind you like superman's cape and make things worse. Those ones need to be tied off to prevent that, which doesn't always look too cool.

Although not yamaha related I can share my experience yamaha does not have a molded flap rather mostly a straight one. On my rev XP I put the snow cross straight flap on my sled with the bungee system to keep it tight to the tunnel, my sled would always overheat, I put the shorter moulded flap on it which has a small curl on the bottom and no issues what so ever in any conditions. That small curl makes the snow swirl and fly up on the heat exchanger. You could literlly run down the lake and see the diff with two of the same sleds. So IMO the shape is very important.

Good point. I had a simular experience on my Rev going from a USI sno-X flap to a curved doo flap.
