Looking for the "hyfax fix"

Some one had a picture of a fix for stripped threads earlier in the year. They just drilled a hole [ you can see where to drill ] and filed from the side though the stripped threads , then slid a washer and self locking nut in the hole and used a 1/4" bolt from the bottom to hold the hyfax.I did search , but not sure if it was on TY or HCS.

here's pic

I like the way Poo and Cat does it also. The screw in the Yamaha is bs really. I have had the screw head stripped, worn, causing all kinds of problems getting it out. I can't see the rail getting weaker with either method of drilling through or cutting a hole. I had a Poo with 18,000 hardcore spinal tapping miles without the rails ever failing.

One thing you guys need to pay attention to is the rail tips...that rivet loosens up and the tip falls off eventually and you can spear your track. It happened to me twice and almost killed myself when the track speared. Anyway, I used a bolt to replace the rivet.

Hopefully Yamaha see this and takes note of both the screw and the tip rivet. A stainless steel rivet would fix the rail tip problem and this method would actually be better than the screw.

Yep,ive got 1600 miles on since I put the allen bolt in to hold the rail tips on and they are still nice and tight.
