If you have a budget then don't get into racing.

I did it for years on no budget where there is a will there is a way. Driving a 1985 VW diesel with a single place and sleeping in the car..... I worked out of my apartment garage with no heat, If you want it bad enough do it don't let anyone tell you you can't!!! 3 years later I stepped up my rig to a 1990 Chevy truck with a pickup camper I was Styling LOL(took me 5 years to buy an enclosed). The stories last for ever I would not change anything for the world! Not to mention the look on a guys face when you beat him with a 2 year old sled and a 1985 car pulling a open trailer LOL

Hard work and Loyalty will pay off if you keep it up. Thats my little story for anyone who thinks racing has to be Big $$$$

It helps however my first year racing(2004) I took my REV 600(BEAVERTAIL) trail sled and went racing. I was told it was not a race sled and would not hold up... It was ok... but I learned alot. I could only race the Open class as it was still 440's back then. If you are passionate about it there are ways to do it.

Your first few years you have to work hard to get the handouts and support and getting your name known in the sport gets your connection witch comes with hard work. When I was racing the little rich kidd never tryed hard because everything was given to him . Didn't matter if he won or lost now the kidd that had to pay for everything did what ever he / she had to do to get to the track to race .
Yam177 great advice and story , I have a few like that too . It makes you feel good inside when you beat them week after week
Dude get a sled and race it or you will always have that thought in the back of your head ( I wonder how I would have done if I raced ) just do it you only live once !

Best way to break in - call stud boy. I work with those guys and they're the best! They still have a few of last years sleds for sale

The doos have a much more consumer friendly motor - they're easy to wrench on. Not to mention shy of the fox shocks you would be buying a race sled that was set up by one of the largest programs in the sport
