Has anyone rode both of these sleds that could give me a review? I ride mostly ditches and rough trails.I have a 07 rtx looking at a 09 ltx gt

I have both.

07 RTX
and
08 LTX GT (wifes)

the traction of the LTX is great. I mean it doesnt have to lift the skis high and the thing is gone. Its a very smooth plush ride, she LOVES the ride of it. Im too heavy for it, so when the trails get rough I can bottom it out. But its set up for her at her weight not me at 280 plus gear. But for just cruising the thing does really well.

Now for the RTX. I bought it because I heard the issues with the mono and my weight. To be honest I tried all kinds of set ups, I actually got it to handle really well, and I like the front floats. But could never get the skid to do what I needed in the back. When the trails werent rought I could soften it up and it would be fine for cruising. If I put more tension into the shocks I thought it rode horrible, ,was very rough but still bottomed so easy. Would just launch me off the sled.

I know I could have went and got them revalved and thought of it. I ended up putting a skid from a Dragon into it. I still have some adjustments to make, and still learning it. But it doesnt bottom out near as easily or hard as the CK skid did. I have to actually reposition the skid in the tunnel at the rear as its hitting the tunnel protectors too easily. But that was me putting it higher in the tunnel trying to lower CG a bit. N ot that big a deal to lower it.

Im not a fan of the CK skid after 2 seasons on it. Not at my weight. The trails here get 1-2 foot moguls in them and the thing just killed me. I could NEVER outrun my wife on her LTX. She is a newer rider and I couldnt leave her behind. I couldnt take the pounding. She just flies through them.

I will be extending this skid next year to 136 just for the traction portion of it, and the bridging of smaller studder bumps.

On a side note.... I always hated the black/yellow scheme of the RTX. I have the 07 and have swapped out the hand guards for black, I have excell exhaust so no more yellow side exhaust covers.

Now Welterracer will get my A-arms this spring !

RTX- Rough, Rough, Rough Ride. Hope your a sno cross rider. A not for everyone machine. Still based on a well built, QUALITY chassis! Just a little rough riding for a guy with a bad neck and back.

LTX GT- smooth, smooth, smooth, BEST & FASTEST STOCK trail sled I've ever owned. I would keep mine before getting anything out in the market right now, including the Doo XR 1200, and the Cat Z1-ton turbo! If Yamaha doesn't vastly improve on it and Doo doesn't bring out a 175+HP boosted 1200 next year. I'll be riding it for another year! I have yet to get outrun in a heads up race by any other STOCK machine. Closest so far is a F1000.

I have been on both and prefer the RTX especially in the tight twisty trails, both sleds completely rock on the wide open trails. The LTX GT is a very plush sled. I would not buy either as a ditch banger, but for ditch bangin the RTX is the sled out of your choices

sleds

i own both 07 rtx and 07 gt now 137 long the gt is twice the sled the rtx is i dont even like riding the rtx anymore, i would buy a new ltx hands down. Mike Knapp is right on about these sleds Jeff

APEX and the new VECTOR body style if you want my opinion are NOT ditchbangers but more of CRUISING groomed trails and LONG HAUL high miles sleds, the APEX is hard to beat for lake and rail line riding they just like to run high speeds for miles on end and way to heavy to get air born all day and gets pretty physical to toss around, in your case you'd probably want the NYTRO or even a PHASER to ditchbang all day and have tons of fun due to their lightness and ERGO'S, I tried a PHASER last year and had a TON of fun off trailing and jumping all over the place its a great sled and very torquie on bottom end and for the NYTRO it could be your all around sled, some cruisng and ditchbaging if its what you do the most...

My .02 ;)!
