just getting ready to load my sled up for the big trip and I noticed the lock nuts on the center shock were loose. Can any one let me know how much preload was stock on the center shock? I tightened it so there is 5 threads between the top of the shock and the lock nut. Also when I put it down on the ground are you supposed to still be able to spin the spring by hand?

When I decided to I want to add preload to mine I found mine was set at ZERO preload. roughly 5/8" of thread above adjusters. They were not loose but no sitting spring tension. I tightened lock rings another ~1/2". Will ride this weekend for 1st time like that.

If you have no means of supporting the rear of the sled in the air to achieve the setting you like, for example loosest but not to loose that the retainer falls out, for the time being at least go tighter rather than looser so that you don't loose the spring retainer. When done setting tension, position the opening of the slot in the retainer facing down.
Sorry don't know the factory settings. Maybe someone will chime in with factory settings.

Here is a video. With sled on the ground I can move spring around. Sleds loaded in the trailer and am leaving in a couple hours so I’m really hoping there’s nothing wrong .

I would at least pre load 3 turn

Stock spring pre-load LTX-LE is 8.125" installed spring height with sled off the ground.

Does that look normal to you guys with sled on the ground for spring to still be that loose?

This is what I currently have for preload.

8.125” from the top start of the threads to the top of spring?

No, installed spring height. End of spring to end of spring. Or spring seat to spring seat. Exactly how you're supposed to measure a spring. Also with no weight on the suspension, or off the ground.

Alright maybe I will have to measure before I leave to make sure. Should it move that freely with the sled on the ground. Leaving in an hour lol.

I have less preload on mine right now than yours, but I never checked it on the ground, but like mike stated, stock length from top of spring to bottom of spring is where you should measure to. We did have mine set at 7.5 and it was loaded so much my ride went to hell, real rough,so becareful how much you preload that dule spring shock.

Personal choice. Tightening or loosening the center spring will lift or drop ski's for handling to personal preference. Dropping ski's will increase heavy steering, lifting ski's will lighten steering but too much will slide. It's a balancing act. Rider weight, snow conditions, ski quality, carbides etc...

Measured from spring seat to top of spring and I have 8”. I was just more concerned with how freely you could move the spring with sled on the ground, but I guess it must be normal.
