Ltx se blowing belts

I was using the Cutler silver, which is a very heavy spring in this case and figured I had it mastered. Shouldn't need that big of a spring with these things, but its the only way I can keep a clamp on the belt in the winder secondary. Interesting thing is the old viper button clutches proved much more clamping force using much lighter and normal springs in them, and then they don't over clamp the belt when its not needed and in the throttle.

The day before these pictures were taken it was fast, clean and happy. Temp warmed about 10-15 degrees and then it wasn't so happy anymore. Hence the reason for going to Viper button secondary, RX-1 primary and XS825 belt, all of which have been said to fix eating primary rollers and belts. I'm just done trying to fight with that large dia. helix roller winder secondary. I'd like to use the larger tunes with success on the trail without belt & primary roller failures.

You can keep the Sidewinder primary clutch, just change the primary rollers to the larger 15.5mm size off that rx-1 clutch. I couldn't get the stock primary rollers to last more than a few 100kms without pushing out the bushings, I have around 8000kms on viper primary rollers in my sidewinder primary now and they still look good.

Have you ran both hurricane stock muffler tunes . Also have you ran open muffler tunes what's the difference between 270sm to 270r can you actually notice a huge improvement
Yes I.have run all set ups from sm to pm and now header pm.
Where I noticed the difference was spool up when trail riding (corner to corner) the sm is still very responsive and will still thrill you when you hammer the trottle
I would say about 3 sled lengths difference (going off the few times I played around with buddies and raced )

Ok just curious had few buddies say 240r is faster than 270 sm just wondering if I'm really missing out on that much. Went and seen dave today checked alignment is was right on had to replace secondary rollers had nice little chunk out of it replace with high torque hopefully things work out belt was little loose as well

Imo the 270sm is faster then 240pm!! I played on lakes with guys running 270pm and I was running 270sm and wasn't far behind so I couldn't see the 240 pm being faster!

Awsome happy your issues were fixed!!!

I'm definitely going to try ultimax belt how many miles you have on xs 825 before blowing it

I currently have 2000 miles or so on a Timken XS 825. It's still good.

Hurricane 270 with 3"Sandale.

I have clutching from Ron Ward. Its Dalton based but he designs his own Secondary Helix.

My clutches stay pretty cool. My alignment is within spec.

Awsome good to hear something good about a 270 hp tune and Timken 825 belt.

I took off last year's XS belt just because I had about 2000 miles on it. Still good spare but put a new one on just because. Don't know how long they'll last. I just figured 2000 miles was enough.

P.S. All last year = 280HP tune w lots of long studs. XS belt = so far so good.

Ya,good advise,i to generally change 1200-2000 miles depending on type of belt, the 8jp every 1000 miles and hopefully Timken 825, 2000 miles, but the new kitties do have better clutches than my older cats ever did.

How is Ron ward's clutch kit what it setup up for trails, top end

It's an excellent corner to corner setup. Top end is not the best but acceleration is incredible especially with the 1.75" Backcountry track.
