LTX vs XTX

According the the Yam site the 141 has 40-42" adjustable ski stance with the new Cat mountain "bone" spindles but the XTX 137 has 42-43" ski stance.

I also noticed this. Same sled but two different Yamaha publications show different specs on it.
It would be nice to know which one is correct.

I see. Sorry I misinterpreted your previous post. When I read the specs it sounded like the same skid. The LTX LE is a beefier skid (The Race Ready). Where in PA do you buy your sleds?
Last one was at Brooks in connelsville. Today I'm signing the paperwork at F&S in Hanover.

This has been verified by a post on this site from a dealer as well as my own dealer Don Georges in Clarence NY as being a misprint in the spring LE brochure. The XTX 137LE will have the 42-43" ski stance like the LTX and the Yamaha website states.

There so little difference it hardly makes sense to make both models. I don't think the shocks are worth the extra price to me.
Those 4 shocks are 2000 bucks if you priced them out by them selfs, and the price difference is 1,300 bucks,so they are well worth it,IMO plus the added RR style rear skid, and them shocks are very good on click 1 or 2 and if you want to go jump off a cliff, set it on 3 lol.

I hear ya. I also hear good things about these shocks on the SW. I just remember having this same conversation when I spring ordered my Apex GT. "The shock package is worth 3 times the extra cost" - I have no love for the electronic Ohlins on the GT Apex/Attak models - can't ride it on anything but full hard no matter how I set up my skid.

I'm having a hell of a time deciding between the 2.
For me this is how I see it.
XTX (141) pros...
1)Longer skid for off trail
2)Longer lug, no need to stud
3)Fox floats. I'm 170 lbs soaking wet and I can keep the pressure down for a softer ride without worrying about bottoming.
XTX Cons....
1) definitely have to swap the skis
2) more narrow stance
3) I'm not quite sure what to think of these spindles. I usually ride point and I'm always banging a ski on #*$&@ on the right side from staying far right. The spindles look like they are light.
LTX pros....
1) RR skid. My Apex skid has been welded too many times to count and just went through a complete rebuild.
2) Tuner III skis. I'm hoping with the right carbides they will track good enough. I'm a big proponent of Simmons.
3 Fox QS3R. Easy adjustment
4) actually like the looks of the seat better

LTX Cons...
1) 1.25" track. I'm not sure I want to stud it so i I may just put a 1.75 on instead
2) Fox QS3R shocks. Is this suspension just going to be too stiff?

I'm left thinking it's a track change with one sled or a ski change with the other....

I am thinking if its a track or skis ,the skis are a no brainer .
I don't know that I agree with your assessment of the difference in the 2 sleds . JMO
If there is no issue with the LTX being soft enough , does that change your decision ?

It would make the decision much more simple if I knew the LTX skid wasn't going to be too stiff.

when I stood on all of the SW's on display at the sneek peak , none of them felt stiff .
much softer than the Apex on display .
I believe that someone posted , that they went thru the 3 settings and they were very noticeably different from soft to stiff .

There seems to be more than a few guys riding 141 uncoupled Vipers for more trail than off trail who are happy with their choice.
I am not really sure I understand the real impact of coupled or not , as with my Apex XTX , with the Star kit , it is now not coupled , and is much better than the pre Star coupled version .
That being said there are other adjustments of the Star set up , and it is not all about uncoupling .
