The MC turbo kit that I purchased from PG Yamaha in Feb 2004 came with a 3kMCX400 turbo and integrated BOV in intercooler.

Compression wouldn't effect turbo lag. Reducing compression would effect motor torque and possibly lessen low end response. Lag, being the amount of time it takes the turbo to kick in shouldn't be impacted by engine compression.

I guess I am thinking more along the lines of the delay(lag) for the power to kick in. Low comp pistons will affect the time it takes for the power to reach the snow, I guess I am confusing it with turbo lag? I was told by someone with an RX1 turbo that there was a noticeable delay after the LC pistons went in, for straight climbing WOT that probably OK, boondocking might not be quite as desirable.

Hill climbing it will make NO diferrence.
Boondocking it shouldn't make a diferrence because the turbo will already be spooled up.

There are no LC pistons available yet for the Vector anyway, so I will be trying it as is with the MCXpress rear mount (when they eventually get here) I had talked to Climbmax about it and he had suggested it might work better without the LC pistons due to the noticeable difference.

Talk to Turbo Turtle. He ran the low compression pistons last year and believe me he had no problem taking off from a dead stop. Phil put them in this year and is kicking #*$&@ at the drags. What they do is give you the ability to run more boost on pump gas, which translates into more power and speed.

They aren't available yet. I am still waiting for the MCXpress kit. If the pistons are available when the turbo get's here, I may put them in, but the way it's looking, I will have to do them later. I guess at least that way I will have personal experience as to any difference.

anyone know ...... they say 10lbs boost on stock pistons with pump gas and large gasket..... what about stock pistons and race gas???? can you go higher, or will the pistons take anymore?

I know three people that ran 14 lbs last year with stock pistons and a race fuel mix.
15 pounds is the maxx on a stock motor period. You need to run 108 VP which is c12. Run theat strait

we have 3 rx1's that ran 17.5 lbs boost on mc express front kits all year in the mountains with no ill effects other than underhood heat in really deep snow. 17.5 lbs is all the schwitzer turbo will do at 9000 feet. when we get to 10,500 about 15 lbs is all it will do. these sleds all have over 1000 miles on them at that boost level and no head gasket or piston changes. they are all running 108 octane fuel. i did mix the race fuel with premium 50/50 once, but set boost to 15 lbs max.
