I actually took that heat shield and mounted it to the underside of the panel, covered up more of the plastic that way and then hid the cheesy looking shield under some frogskin!

A turbo blanket and some header wrap would probably solve a lot of the heat problems. The mechanic told him not to let the sled idle for a long time and maybe trim some more plastic. I have some thicker tape coming for my install and if I have any left I will install it on his viper in the hottest spots. The other vents I seen looked like they were aluminum frame with frogskinz or flo rite material. Those look a lot better then what they offer this year.
Big fan of the blankets and header wrap... Makes a huge difference. My frogskinzs melted in a few places.
