Thinking of running windshield washer fluid on my stage 1 SC apex GT, I want to run 10-11lbs on 91 octane fuel but i have two questions:
#1 I usually drive 5-8 hours to ride and we usually do 500-800 trail miles in a trip. If the engine is safe at 5 psi can I activcate to run meth when the boost is between 5psi and 10 psi and if so how much will it use, will I need to fill the tank at each gas stop (100 miles) or could I get 2-3 tanks on a fill?
#2 Is there a way I could flip a switch or something if I only get access to 87 octane in the woods and run MORE meth to keep the engine safe?
I'm familar with the meth systems on cars just wondering the feasiability for a trail sled. We ride aggressive and I LOVE the flipper so I will be suprised if I get 100 miles on a tank of fuel with this new one. My carbed RX with filter kit on it I could barely get 13mpg so that tells how hard I am on fuel. Very rare to just cruise at a certain rpm its always on the gas or the brake it seems.
Thanks!

With that low of boost is it even an issue?

The controller has 2 dials, first is a start boost level adjustable from 0-15 psi, then the second is the all in adjustable from 5 psi to 25 psi
The second one sets the ramp rate, you can have it go full on high slope or ramp it out for a low slope.
Just don't use any Washer fluid with Glycol, Not good.
Finding a place for a big enough tank is probably one of the tough ones.
The way you ride it probably won't last a full tank of fuel but it is so dependent on how much your injecting volume wise.
Ted.

Thanks Ted that helps I dont think this is real feasible for my riding. I'll just lower the boost for pump and take the 50hp less

How would one tune this boost ramp on this meth stuff? You use the A/F gauge, temp?? or is it just by feel on the engine..lazy etc.. Just curious, and looking for some knowledge..... I don't think meth is a good Idea for me in any way. I would crank the boost to the sky.

AJ,
It's like jetting a carb, start over rich and lean down until the misfire cleans up.

That don't sound to accurate morey, Just like the carb Boondocker N20 kits, set it rich and tune down to you hear detno or loss of power then go back 1 full turn. I thought there would be more to it.
What about running 100 or 104 octane with the Meth/water, is that going at it backwards? I see here and hear about guys running these kits, and I am sure they work just fine but some are going 22-24lbs boost with stock engine internals.... Thats just scary!!!

There might be a more accurate way, like a dyno session... which would be my preference.
I don't think you tune water injection by listening for deto. LOL
Besides we know it's always safer to tune out a rich misfire than to tune until you get a lean misfire...
Serious, that is how they say to tune their N2O kits? Excellent...
But for sure you can always tell if you didn't have enough water/meth or fuel octane by the blue smoke and distinct "bog, fart, ka-chunk" noise... HA! yeah hate that too!
Hey, didn't your Apex make those sounds at the shootout? PPffss!
AJ, I know your thinking this Meth now... Oh boy.

A dyno session is really the only right way, the next best would be an A/F gauge tune for about 1/2 - 1 point richer than you would run on race fuel alone, but use Pump gas with Meth.
Lower octane seems to work better with water/meth inejction than higher octane, but again a Dyno Session is in order to set it up and dial it in.
In a lot of cases you lose power when turning the Water/meth on then either have to turn the boost up or add timing to gain the power back +
No Debating it can work very well when set up right but may be more work than most want to do.
So I say Keep the Caution flags up.

We have found very little diffrence in power from the meth.If your looking for a sure way to tune the meth, use EGT's to measure the exhaust temps.Kinda like a two stroke. However,I really don't see the need for that.Like Mberryracing said, start rich and go leaner. When we are tuning meth,we tune quite often by the color of the header. If the header is glowing red,add meth to cool it down.Lets face it,the meth cools the pistons before it gets to the header

I'm guessing to Kinger's point is how do you tune in the Meth on the trail when you have to fill up with questionable gas... using it as an added safety cushion. And that is a great question.
A dyno is ideal to dial in an optimal tune when everything is gonna be consistent from then on out, but you aren't gonna get that in the back woods... I suppose in this scenario you won't be able to roll up to a 24 hr pub / dyno so just run 'er on the rich side since you aren't fretting about fine tuning 1/2 HP anymore but more concerned about keeping your engine from puking without futzin with boost?
