Midwest snow report

Vilas Co. Wis. has been open to riders for a week now. Trail conditions are more favorable towards the north/northwest. Very thin to the south/southeast, but rideable.
And now for the good news......

Northwoods was hit with some lite rain on Christmas, icy conditions in and around, which will make an excellent base for what's projected to come. Happy hunting!!

Blizzard going on here now (southern MN). Supposed to continue until tomorrow noon at least. Good snow but high winds right now. Great to see! Cold temps to follow it looks like.

It's all that wind that kinda sucks. 18" looks like 3" on the ground. You know what i mean.

Northern Central UP is an absolute mess. Parts of Grand Marais is without power (24hrs), trees down and no grooming, as of yesterday.
N. Wis got hit good. Groomers out and trails are being made ready. This is what Wis. needed for the last 5yrs. Riding will be epic!

Vilas Vo. Will be installing bacons at entrances/exits for all trails that utilize lakes for travel. This is bonus for all. Especially for those that may have had an after dinner cocktail during a snowstorm. (Just saying)
Disclaimer: i do not condone the use of excessive alcohol during riding, but understand the need to tip one, just to take the chill out!

I would love it if northern Wisconsin got a lot of snow and kept it this winter. Far less people coming to the mid U.P. (Munsing-Seney-Grand Marais area). ;)

Remember how things were 25yrs ago. Very few trail riders (from out of state) and a handful of those rebels (off trail riders) riding 165" sleds tearing up the power lines. Lol.
Climate change has forced riders to come in from all across the country. The snow in the northwoods will be short lived. 30's+ coming in right behind the storm. And the only snow deep enough to survive will be the UP.
