I'm setting up my rx-1 for 500 foot snow drags. Mcexpress rear mount pistons and head shim I'm running straight c-12 and I want to know if I can run 18 pounds without killing blowing a rod through the block at about 2300 feet

Do you have 10:1 pistons and a head shim and how many gaskets? If I'm not mistaken your CR is well below 9:1, you can run 18 lbs on that fuel, no problems with breaking rods at 18 on that level of compression.

If you running Race fuel only there is no reason to lower compression.
Your double lowering compression with pistons and a Head shim, this is going to kill power and response.
You need the compression to launch the sled.
Especially in 500 feet.
I run 22-25 psi boost on a completely stock motor that has 4000 trail miles.
I must have 500 + 660 ft passes on the sled with no issues.
I would suggest more octane though for your sled since you don't have MSD.
Ted.
