- 2012 Yamaha Nytro 162 w/MPI Supercharger
Hello all, first time poster. Needing some insight and advice:
I have owned a 2012 Nytro 162 w/MPI supercharger for about 5 years. Bought it with extremely low miles/hours and use and don't use it super often so miles and hours are still pretty low. Always kept up on maintenance, kept supercharger oil full, etc. Lo and behold, supercharger blew the other day (reading on the forums this looks to be semi-common with the shaft failing). Really bummed but trying to figure out what to do next.
MPI is out of business so I can't get anything "new" or get advice from them. My mechanic is digging into things now to see what exactly failed and to make sure there is no damage to engine (). I would really like to get it back to working condition (I LOVED the supercharger) but also want to do whatever I can to make sure this doesn't happen again. Buying a used kit off eBay is an option, but don't want this happening again in a year or less. Not really looking to turbocharge as I have all the supercharger stuff installed and I have a custom exhaust which will not accept a fitted kit turbo.
Thoughts? Options? I love this sled. Really don't want to junk it or not get it back up and running again if I can help it. Thanks for any advice.

Give Rotrex a call. They may sell replacement parts. I believe there is also a company that inspects/rebuilds those units. Don't recall the name at the moment.
Google may help.
