I'm coming back to yamaha in 2016... had a 2006 attak, 2008 apex, 2010 Vector.. then tried other manufactors.. all have their strong and week points, and still, i will get a 2016 Apex that looks exactly like my 2006 Apex looked.. so i must like the sled... its just a little disapointing when we're not asking for the moon, plastics, tank, seat.. man, for Yamaha, that shouldn't be so hard right?.. if they just survey a few thousand apex owners, and see the response, well just ad it in the accessories at first, we'll buy it aftermarket anyway...

Snowmobiling is a luxury, so yes you want your 16$G machine to look good too... Ugly cars aren't even luxury, they are essentiel, and still an ugly car doesn't sell, and a crappy but good looking one does.. basic marketing 101.. i'm not saying its ugly.. but outdated..If looks attract buyers where did the form follows function saying come from. Rev was is one ugly sled and the new Doo is not any better. I guess everyone just got used to them. Best looking 2,000's sled in my opinion was the RX. Apex running second!

Went to the sneek peek show yesterday in Oaks pa. Hung out from 4till 6pm. Funny story. I'm standing by the 2016 Apex/xtx proto. talking to, no scratch that ""TELLING"" one of the reps. how the Apex needs an upgrade/refresh and what I/we want in a new Apex! 1st the easy stuff, a 10 gallon tank, higher seat, full stainless exhaust, a revised front end and cut some more weight. 2nd the hard stuff, an all new chassis with a 4 hole engine with all the easy stuff I mentioned! So he asks me what I'm riding now? I tell him I've got 07 Attak GT with 13,800 miles on the clock and I proceed to tell him all the mods and upgrades I've done to the sled and other than the lack of power steering I have no need to upgrade to a newer Apex/xtx. So he starts yammering on about how much better the 16 xtx is over my sled and that Yamaha tweeked this and changed that and blah blah blah. Just as he gets done rambling giving me the sales pitch my wife walks over to us (Now my wife knows squat about sleds other than where the gas and break are!) she asks the rep if this is a ""NEW"" sled? He say's yes and tells her what it is, she turns to me and say's ""IT LOOK'S LIKE THE SLED YOU HAVE NOW"" and walks away!!

That's the perfect example of the point. Unless it looks different people don't think there is change.
As mentioned in another thread, the 2011 and newer Apex could have gotten a name change it is that different.
I too had a tricked out 2007 apex GT and my XTX is a world better. Enough that someone needs to drive it to understand. That will not fly at a sled show or on the showroom floor. Yamaha needs a facelift if they expect folks to think it is different.

No I don't think Yamaha gives a hoot about online comments.... engineers & product managers do their own thing. All this has been posted here for many years nothing changed other than what Yamaha planned to do with Apex. Yamaha looks at costs & ROI for improvements they want to do not what the interweb wants....I don't know any OEM that plans product via online postings just not the way to do it. I don't mean to disappoint you but just not how R&D works.well, if we are ALL UNANIMOUS on the situation, why don't they just do it?? at least make a marketing Survey???

I know that on Dootalk, last year when the colors came out, everbody was freaking out, there where hundreds if not thousands of posts on how the colors where ugly.. then BRP added all black option ... so there, they listen...if Yamaha doesn't well, their decision, i know if i where them, i would like to know what enthousiast are wanting.. unless you don't really want to sell more sleds..then you don't care.No I don't think Yamaha gives a hoot about online comments.... engineers & product managers do their own thing. Sissy, the point of this is more of a wish list. I can see your very passionate about Yamaha as are the rest of us are. I can tell you I understand why you don’t change every other year into something new. The more something changes the more it is the same. With that being said being unchanged for too long markets changes as well as customers. I’m sure we have all bought something wishing we could improve on it. My main message to Yamaha would be fuel capacity. I am unable to go over 100 miles between tanks and with the rear muffler set-up cannot easily carry extra fuel. (This I would think, without knowing could be an easy fix)
Handling issues or just wanting to be competitive in HP with your friends. Top end they all chase me, 0-75mph I am chasing them. I would not trade my machine 2011 Apex XTX as I love it. However I added things I wish came from the factory.
As far as the Arctic Cat joint merger I am not really impressed with that either with the other quality issues.
Hope your day is better and Jesus H can’t help, he has bigger issues helping the other big 3 then Yamaha.

Careful what you wish for...when they discontinue the current Apex that will probably be the end of a sled made in Japan...and the end of the 4 cylinder.

jooper 1 ,,,,,solution foe extra fuel is simple angled exhaust turn outs ....even YAMAHA sell them (not the cheapest ) I soursed mine elsewhere and the extra fuel sits nicely on the back (yeh you cant see the back light ,,,,oh no´´´´´´) and as far as handling goes ....super tuneable from flat running slot car on skoter trails ...to powerbashing monster ´´´´´´horses for courses´´´´´´set it up for the day ahead¨¨¨¨¨¨sway bar in-- transfer to min-- front strap pulled down =slot car.......................sway bar out ..transfer to max ,,front strap to max = look ive got a new machine for todays fluff .............wot more do you want/need????????????????
