Looks like one of those plastic cap nuts used to hold the bags on tunnel only smaller… Interesting to find in your tank…

Someone is messing with you? Or it was in when you got sled from new? Like at the factory someone dropped it in by accident? Or maybe from the manufacture process of making the tank itself? Just spit balling. I have no idea really.

Glenn,
Lusemeat924 and I were talking about his clutching and he emailed me some pics of a couple of items he found in his fuel tank as well. I'll attach them here, but the black item looks exactly like the thing you found in your tank. The item in red on these photos looks to be a rubber grommet or possibly the valve in the bottom of the banana surge tank? I just recall seeing a couple what I thought to be red valves in the bottom of the banana tank when changing fuel pumps out on these machines, guess I have never looked real close at them before. Could both the black piece and the red piece in these photos work as one perhaps?

Very interesting Mike.....the black piece in your pic surely resembles mine.

Is that black piece part of the gas cap?

Wow, very puzzling.
Wonder if these objects could be any part of some testing equipment? Ie parts to equipment that vacuum or pressure tests the gas tank? Or, even parts that are part of machines that machine features on the tank like the openings, etc? IDK
