Is your track studded? Allen at Ulmer Racing would be a good guy to call for clutching and gearing.

my attak generally has no issues with that sled. simple mods are listed in my profile. Even without the boss clutch kit i've had good luck running against those sleds.

theres this lever on the right side i suggest push on it till it runs out of travel actually he must have some clutching, gearing,or a better track than you i love my boss clutch kit mine runs strong with it only other mod id do is new track cause if you still have the rip suck like me you get alot better hookup out of a cobra or a backcountry depending on riding style

What's the weight difference between the riders? Do you get the same result if you swap sleds? I'm not suggesting this is the case, but I've seen where a 300# rider can't understand why the 150# guy on the next sled is whipping his a$$ every run across the lake.

The single biggest thing the Apex's need is traction! Hook it up and it will be quicker and faster all the way to top end. I have seen many times where more aggressive clutching, gearing and more power will actually hurt you especially in short run's or looser snow condition's. Hook it up first (200 or so stud's) than work on getting more power to the track. Leave transfer set to max and start pulling limiter up just so ski's are off the snow, more wheelie than you need robs efficiency and the Mono already has a harsh approach angle and pulling the limiter up helps that. I would start with that first and see what you gain.

Aren't you the guy blowing belts every 500 miles? Sounds like you should look there first. Clutch alignment, center to center, clutch bushings, ramps etc. Then take kvipers' advice...

if you want to beat most sleds....take that dam control rod out...pull limiter strap
in 1 hole...amazing traction. before i did that i couldnt race a 660t.
you will not have a problem.when you do this had mine out for 3 seasons 4000miles
