Need a aftermarket suspension wheel assembly for my '05 RX-1. Yamaha number is 8ES-47310-00-00, all six have shot bearings according to my dealer who is finally getting ready to put in my repaired skid. He says they are $30 EACH, bearing non replaceable!! Anyone else out there go down this road and know of a cheaper alternative?

I haven't yet, but I am about to. Try these guys. You will need some measurements from the RX-1 Wheel. I believe the O.D. is 5.125" or 130 mm, but I am not sure of the bearing I.D. though 20 mm sounds pretty close as a guess.

Match it up size wise (Wheel OD) against an 87 Yamaha Exciter. The ID of the bearing will be VERY SLIGHTLY too small though, so you'll have to grind down the shaft it fits on. You will also need some small spacers to align it. Reason being that these wheels are designed to be a non-size - they have a PLASTIC INSERT which doesnt match ANY bearings. The big wheels on the back are a different story though - the wheel OD is same as 87 Exciter, the bearing ID is also same as 87 Exciter.

These sure look like plastic inserts for idler wheels to me.
Not sure about the sixe yet, because I don't have my sled out so I can't measure them, but I would definitely think you could find what you are looking for right here.

Oh, one more thing, this may not be cheaper THIS time, but from here on out you can change your own bearings.

I am looking for the same thing. I want idler wheels with replacable bearings.
I checked the 05 Yamaha accessories cat and they list idler wheels on page 27 # 4 and #5.
Question is are the bearings replacable???

You also have to pay attention to the width of the bearing because this will have an effect on the side to side placement of the wheel.

Snorover I followed up our previous thread on this under the Port Yamaha section yesterday. There appears to be a new wheel coming out from Yamaha as an accessory that will replace the stock wheels on the Mono-skid. They will be offered in colors and retail for $21.95. I haven't seen them yet so I don't know any other details yet. Check out the other post on this as there is some info in there that also might help others dealing with this subject. I will try to update that post when I get some in or have more info on them.

I saw this wheel on their website. The problem is that I have a Candy Apple Red sled and the wheels are the regular bright red. Would look really tacky.

They also offer that wheel in a silver color. That would most likely look pretty good on a candy red sled.
I had the same problem with all my idler wheels, so I simply replaced all with Polaris idlers. They are a slight bit bigger, but this helps the slidders and the bearings are replacable.

I had thought of that. If I can't find an aftermarket balck wheel to fit that is the route I will most likely go. I believe that the bearings are replaceable in the colored wheels as well.
Thanks for the help guys. Looks like I need the 5.125" X 20mm. Shadetree has them with replaceable bearings. Will check with another local dealer to see what he has in this size. Otherwise I'll probably be able to pick something up at the bigeast snowmobile show.
