- 2015 Yamaha Viper RTX-LE
Recently purchased a 2015 Yamaha Viper RTX-LE with 7000 kms. Engine and everything critical seems to be fine but, what an eventful few days and I’m not an avid sledder with the slightest idea what to do.
Day 1 ride - left her on the trails. Rear bolt holding the trihub broke off / fell out. Upon further inspection - the wheel guides were gone and that’s just the start of it. Went back and put a bolt in to get her home.
Then... upon further inspection... lots of missing bolts and it appears I had two bogey wheels side by side outside of skid but nothing inside the skid. Is this normal? Here are some pictures - your help is beyond appreciated.
Thank you.

The original Tri hub had NO WHEELS outside the skid. Many added out side wheels called a 4th wheel kit. The Tri hub in the center was a supposed improvement over Cats tradition of two center wheels- ONLY.
Originally did not have replaceable bearing so had reported catastrophic trip ending failures.
If your looking for missing wheels and bolts or shafts outside the skid they were never there. Check a parts diagram for the year of your viper and it will make sense.
Hope this helps

I think Kris is talking about the 2 wheels up by the front of the skid. I think the missing bolt in the trihub is another issue. If that’s the case, no Kris mine doesn’t have the 2 wheels outside of the skid. But mine is a different model, I can’t comment on the Rtx’s. Maybe some of the Rtx guys can answer?

tri hub is junk. I put Larson Racing ones in mine and never looked back. We broke two factory ones on a 14 after we bought it used while waiting for the Larson one. The second one was brand new 0 miles from my 16. It lasted 300 miles and took out 2 rails, 1 cross shaft, 1 track (tore through 3 windows) and one bogey wheel. Around 14oo$ repair for parts. Larson one came the next week. DOH!!!
