IMG_1355.JPG IMG_1354.JPG We have now test fitted our new production intercooler for the thundercat. The core is 1.5 inches thicker then the stock core to increase efficiency in both flow and heat dissipation

I would buy that just to mount on my wall. I love brushed aluminum & welds that look like quarters stacked up. Makes me sleep well.

Seriously though: I'm assuming this piece is just a much more efficient & consistent cooler that probably can't be measured by a dyno.
On a STOCK sled, will their be any significant gains or pluses besides me sleeping better?

This intercooler is intended for some of the higher hp flashed sleds to control the intake temps on longer runs

Looks great Dave! Love the fact you are not sitting still during the summer, but instead building great go-fast parts and product for our winders. You're the man!

Ya,it does look sweet, but like said, nothing really needed on trail sleds, number one reason is the snow catcher grill Yamaha has chose to mount to the front of sled. At least buy the cat grill if you plan to run any kind of better intercooler,so you know it is working to its max. I cant figure out how these mountain boys can make any power when theres is plugged full, and that is most of the time, heck just look at the 2018 Mountain vid Yamaha has out, that film shows everyone plugged completely!

First it is not bolt on. I knew i had to make room for it and trimming some parts of the front end...
Stock intercooler 4.2 pounds Hurricane 8.4 pounds
The funniest part was to cut the aftermarket part to make it fit....lol

Yeah on the dyno might be the easiest way to do it.

That's interesting. This was one of my planned off season mods. While 4 pounds might seem insignificant, hanging out there on the nose of the sled I think it will amplify the feeling of that 4lbs
