New spark plugs

I have a 2009 phazer ive taken both side panels off, taken the seat off, unhooked the gas tank and pushed it back and I am confused as to exactly where the spark plugs are.. When i shine a flashlight in front of the gas tank there is 2 plastic pieces that have a electrical wire connected to them where I am assuming the spark plugs are. I unhooked the wire and took the screw out of that and I cant figure out how to remove that cap. Ill upload a picture of exactly what im talking about tomorrow..

after you unplugged them, you took out the 10mm bolt that was holding them down, now you just twist back and forth as you pull up on them. the part that you are taking off is the coil. the plugs are way down in the head.

From my experience, it is a combination of fouled spark plug and bad gas. Let us know how it turns out. Dana

Are peeps finding that the phazer needs plugs after 2000 miles or so?

What ngk plug is the standard plug? Are there any performance upgrade to a differant plug?

The only reason you should need plugs are if they are defective or if you cold start and dont let it warm up. That being said ive changed them every spring and never had a starting issue.

I changed mine at about 1200 miles and after pulling them out i learned that i should have left them in. They still looked nearly new.

Just like my suv, quad, and bike, never changed them. A proper running four stroke shouldn't need them, and that's why i bought a FI-Yamaha four stroke.
Like others have said, warm them up and keep your thumb off the throttle untill it does. Even loading mine up i let it run untill it idles down, load it, strap it down, get my cover, etc etc, before shutting it off. Maybe i'm lucky?

Agreed, the way i look at it though it that i pull em out to take a look at em they still look good but in the fall i see all these these topics with sleds not starting and what not. A few bucks for plugs to ensure that when the snow flys i just gota turn the key and go and not worry about being on a trip and needing plugs. So far never had a starting issue with the way i do it so i will keep spending a few bucks to keep it like that. so far so good.

Is anyone running the cr10ek in their phazer or is that a big no-no with the phazer.

Thanks I figured it out now.. My plugs were fouled out because the shop I brought too didnt warm the sled up properly before moving it. Brought it there and it was running and then get it home and it wont start anymore.

CR10 is a colder plug.It would make your issue worse.Try a CR8.

Thanks cannondale 27-- i'm gettin ready to service my sled and figured i would ask as most of the nytro's are switching to that plug. I did not know if the phazer guy's were doing the same thing.I'll stick with the 9's
