NITRO VS SIDEWINDER?

so now the question?what would a nitro be like with the slide action rear suspension?and qs3's in the front if they make that size(of course updated front end)?that would be an awesome project and i bet yamaha will watch it closely

Yamaha always made great sleds..reliable with some issues. My Venture certainly had its share of issues, strong sled but issues. My SW is just an awesome sled...just a pleasure to ride and the wife is happy with it so I'm happy with it. Usually newer technology refines issues. jmo Joe

With some tweeking you can make the nytro super comfortable to ride and handle pretty decent. Did some big trips and long days on it. Change the skis and play with the shock and spring tension - it can be an easy sled to ride all day. But it cant keep up with a procross. That sled rides so effortlessly compared to the nytro.

Nytro is well built, its an easy system to work on and keep running. The procross is a pain - there are many Cat gremlins out there that are well documented on this site.
I joke and tell people an hour job on a Nyrto is a three hour job on a procross.

The Nytro was a pain too. Some things were much easier than the procross, but the weakness of the front end, t

I had my Fox 1.5rC on my Nytro, and with the JRE spindles, the sled handled great. Just the front end was weak, and I think the JRE spindles made it weaker somehow.

Procross skid is much lighter than the Nytro skid,
But I don’t think it does anything better nor is the procross skid more durable. The only issues I’ve had with my Sidewinder are belt issues and rear skid issues. Broke the slide action cross shaft twice. Bent the lower shock mount once. Ruined an eyelet on the Lower shock mount and ovaled out some holes.

lol. I break everything. I have some ideas to reinforce the skid and frame rails this year. I’ve fixed the clutching so that’s my only issue right now. They should have made these sleds with the real RR skids.

I find these Cat rear suspensions low maintenance. The Nytro skid didn't require too much upkeep, but some of those other Yamaha rear skids over the years required a ton of regular maintenance.

At the end of the day, the big handling issues with the Nytro was the front end. I dont think there is anything you could do to make it ride as easy as a procross.

I have an 11 Apex with a full Fast M20 suspension setup. Sled is modified for my style of riding. I also own "2008" Nytro. Race team front end, tunnel and a Cat 141 rear suspension., WRP seat , OFT relocate and a 3" Lake Effect riser. I love everything about my Nytro with the exception of the small tank. Sly dog Powderhounds float in deep snow and offer zero darting with light steering. It's an awesome sled in every way!
