Post #47 on page 4 pretty much explains the answer on the exact number on offset.

Thats the ball parkSo guys, real quickly while sled is in trailer. Grabbed a straight edge on back of primary then measured to outside of secondary. Both clutches still on sled with factory shim in secondary. I measured......
2 15/32" which equates to 62.7mm.
Does that sound about right? I'm going to double check my findings. But if I remove 3mm from the back of secondary that would put me at 59.7mm with shim in place.
Is that what we are trying to achieve?
Thank you........joe

@)$/&+':€{£\©!!!!!! Thanks, Tim. How's your sled doing? Oh, what are you using to measure temps?
Thats the ball park
Right on......just preparing for that jump to light speed.
JT, are your clutches hot and blowing belts? I thought yours was good? If so I'd leave it

No blown belts. But going to tune. Shouldn't I prepare the secondary? I hate to wait and find out the hard way. But understand what you're saying. Idk.
If in fact we find the majority stop blowing belt at 60mm. Shouldn't I take the time and correct? B4 hand......

What shim(s) are behind secondary

I am in the same predicament as you. 800 miles now at stock hp levels and belt looks new with many hard lake runs in deep snow. My offset is 60.5 with no shims. Planning on stock muffler tunes and Dalton’s up front. I will probably leave it and see if a problem develops. Oh yeah ..I also have ran the thunder orange secondary spring the whole time from 60 down to 40 where it is now. I personally think every sled is different! No blown belts. But going to tune. Steve, just one shim back there. Not sure of thickness. I will investigate when sled is in shop.

Fourload, I wish I knew what temps we are trying to achieve. I'd ramp things up & spend some time on the lake. Problem is the 5hr drive to the testing grounds. Then to find it's too hot. What? Go back home and try again. Idk??? Trying to come up with a good plan that makes sense. Like to cut secondary and incorporate one shim.
I know......I'm asking too much.

We are overthinking it! My belt is usually cool but today I was ramming it down our lake in heavy snow full throttle and it got warm but not hot. LolSteve, just one shim back there. Not sure of thickness. I will investigate when sled is in shop.

Well I will say this. Was planning on getting some cut off of my secondary hub this weekend and due to time restraints it didn't happen. I'm at 60.9'm with one shim behind. Today a pulled the shim out so I'm at 59.9'm with C to C at 262.5 mm and my clutches are much hotter.

Ok, you win. Haha.....
I'll also add that the stationary primary sheave has just shy of a 1/4" of clearance compared to the 1/8" that I've seen posted on here by some. Seems like I should be able to go below 59.9mm, but no go.

Wow,holy crap.24/41 and you have had your sled at 137 on hard pack? That secondary combo you are running, was what I had on mine when it blew my first and only blown belt. With my clutching with that secondary set up,it would shift to 9200 than drop and hold at 9000,but I had very hot clutches with it wrapped to 70 on stock 35,but I don't have dales weights, just his springs,i did not run the blk/green for trail, but do have his blue/blk in now.Yeah, it's up there...!
I'm going to get this gear dialed in as well as I can and then probably try 21/37 (1.71 vs. 1.76). Ran 22/41 last winter and had it dialed in nice, but I've got a couple of pesky MCX Apexes around here to deal with and 22/41 just isn't enough gear for the kind of lake racing I do. Need to be pulling 137-138mph on hard pack snow to be in the hunt.

I think he is saying that is what he is trying to get to so he can run with the pesky Apex’s. Not that he has done it yet.
That would be fast huh Pete.

Can’t agree with this, first there’s no way 1mm in offset is going to change clutch temps all that much, that’s the big one.
Second with a properly measured 262mm Center to Center and 8jp belt 58mm offset and 262 CC is very close to straight at 1:1 shift out.
Varying conditions was probably the reason you experienced different clutch temps.
