I spent the weekend in the UP trails were awesome, love my sleds engine just need to get my steering honed in.
I have curve ski's with 6" round bar . I have max preload on front skis, and limiter strap sucked in 3 holes rear torsion on soft.
Sled should have loads of ski pressure but I think it is not enough. Sled seems to turn only so tight in the corners before you feel like you cant turn any tighter . Like 1/3 of the bars turning radius. Was not confident in sleds turning ability, what can I do. Really frustrated,
At night the trails harden up and sob darts like crazy, just like the last time I had the sled out. last year with similar results.
Might try some different skis if i cant get this dialed in. tuners or c&A's .

170 + gear.
Also froze my butt off due to no wind protection time for tall windshield.

hows the ski alignment, makes a huge difference... any loose parts?

Check what ragin said ^^, proper toe or sloppy front end will cause it to be like that to a certain extent. Also when you mean is only turns so tight.....like steering sharp or it causes ski lift? With you in hole three on on the strap you should have a #*$&@ ton of ski pressure! Maybe try sucking the rear strap down one?

Sled is super tight 1300 mileage sled with fresh oil lites, and upushman ss ski kit.
Toe is 5/8" out
^^
that's what i thought should have sharp handling and heavy steering. Not the case tho.

As you can tell I'm real busy at work today hahaha

Maybe look into the oft relocator for your turning issue, helps huge in the turning department. As far as the rest, you do have the xtx with studs. That's a long skid plus studs it's going to make it dig more and turn less. What sled are you coming off from? Might try loosening the strap too, mine is in the stock hole and I really like it. But I like the skies in the air and frontend light, thinking I'm going to go second hole to control ski lift some. Less might be more for you??

I say revalve your shocks for your weight/riding style. Get a nice progressive valve stack in there and she'll handle better all around, and ride better.

5/8" toe out - isn't that a little too much? Maybe I'm wrong. Its possible the darting is from excessive ski pressure with so much toe out

I would say start over! I think the Curves don't need that much toe out . Put a straight edge off your track edge and set the toe to 1/8"-1/4" max.

Next flip your ski rubber's around "or" shim the back of the rubbers.

Next try and loosen up your front shock springs all the way until they are loose. Then tighten collars one full turn. this should make your "A" arms level to the ground. set your clickers to 4 clicks from stiff. only tighten limiter strap one hole front factory setting .

I have done this too 2 Nytro's one a shorty and one an XTX. Both cornered much better!

Good luck

Oops I meant 3/8 " tow out
I am coming from short track rev 800
I was considering the oft relocate or the revavle
Just don't have gobs of money to put in it already have spent so much .

I agree with DGZRT, start over with your shock settings. Don't think you need a revalve yet. Definitely loosen up the strap, three is too much in my opinion. I think 3/8 is fine but could adjust that too. Shimming the skis and flipping the rubbers helped mine too. I have floats so your on your own with that. The relocater is pretty cheap compared to the gains it offers, makes it steers much nicer with a better range of motion of the bars.

I run 7.5 stud boy shapers only way to get it to turn ..also try polaris weight transfer blocks they work get...they are on the x12 like 97 xlt or rxl or something with x12 in it

I run split rail ski's on my xtx with dual 6" carbides on each ski. It corners and handles great on the nasty conditions when the trails are tore up. I've got 900 miles on them this season. They do cost more but they work.

This right here. I have the same set up but floats with 52 lbs in them, and C&A Razor with 9in shaper bars and no studs. it turns where I point it.

I would loosen up the ski spring and put the limiter strap to stock settings. Sounds like you have way too much
ski contact pressure on the snow.
I have the Hygear tripple rate springs at minimum settings, limiter strap at factory settings, and 6.9 pilot ski's. I have very little darting and the sled corners flat.

alot of the info above work well.... i have the following setup which workes very well last year with stock shocks (09 xtx)

-almost no preload on front shocks
-strap stock location
-quite a bit of preload on center shock
-torsion springs on medium
-rear shock middle of the road settings for comp & rebound

the rear end affect the front end alot on nytro, redoing setup with star suspension rear linkage kit right now....amazing affect and really economical and will be putting new shocks on next week.

for the GYTRs, when people say almost no preload on the front shocks, or set to rattle then tighten one turn, this is with the skis on the ground, not lifted, correct? Cause when you do that and then lift the front end, the spring has a bunch of free space between itself and the adjuster nuts. Just want to make sure I'm understanding it correctly so my set up is OK. THanks.
