Hi,
I installed a temp gauge and when installing, i lost some coolant.
Can i just add some water or do i need to put coolant?
What type of coolant?

It's completely stock so probably yamaha coolant.

Just throw some 60/40 or 50/50 premix in her and you will be fine.

Pete

Dump the old, give it a flush and replace it with 50/50! I went from constantly overheating to rarely overheating when I switched from 60/40 to 50/50.

As others have said, can't go wrong with 50/50. You can even add some water wetter for some extra insurance against an overheat

50/50 is too risky for my neck of the woods. This year isn't looking like record breaking low temperatures, but last year in northern Ontario night time temperatures would have had me worrying!

Sent from my pocket computer so excuse my spelling

Must remember 50/50 doesn't give -40 anymore. Least not here. -36c or -37c now is what you get here.

Be sure to double check the type of yamacool you put in. I was unaware and so was my dealer and they put the new coolant in my 09. Needless to say it was a mess. They replace the rad twice, water pump and flushed it every week for the whole summer. Bottom line the new coolant does not mix with the old.
