Hi,
I have a MTX 153 that as been extented to 162 with a 2.5 inch track. I'm looking to cut my track to 1.5 inch lug instead to give me a little more top speed.
I'm also looking at studding my track and was wondering two things:
1- What lenght studs should I put with 1.5 inch lugs? Is there a rule of thumb, for exemple, 0.25 inch longer then the lugs?
2- I'm just wondering what max lenght of studs can I put without having any problems.
Thanks

I wouldnt put studs bigger than 1.425" studs in a nytro of any model, not enough clearance, which if you were to cut down the track enough to make the studs usable would be 1.325" track. others might have have different opinions but I had 1.325 studs scratch the piss out of the collector on my xtx, so thats just my opinion

I've heard the same from other people, but my thinking was that if a 2.5 inch track has clearance, I was thinking that anything less should be fine.

clearance for rubber that can flex and move, not for heavy studs that can aid in balloning your track. with smaller drivers you might get away with it but I wouldnt want to try it. sell the suspension and track and by something proper for trail riding...

I would not put studs in the MTX at all because there are no stud protectors on the front heat exchanger. Put studs in, brake hard and you will cut up this heat exchanger in no time...
My wifes sled the track is cut down to 1 1/4 with 1.5" studs with plenty of clearance. She has afermarket drop brackets and a cat skid so there is a little more clearnace in the rear but the same as a yamaha skid in the front.
