Just curious. Has there been issues with overheating and oil/coolant leaks on the 2008 Nytros? A friend of mine has a 2008 that about a couple years ago he started getting oil and coolant leaks. He looked all over and could not figure out where it was coming from. Time went by and every time he road he was getting this symptom and of course he had to add a little oil and a little coolant but could never figure out where it was coming from. It would just drip out from the belly pan after a ride. Then once late last season I was riding with him and it started to overheat so he put it away and didn't ride it anymore. Now this season after the fluids were topped off he rode the first time out and it immediately overheated so he took it in to a shop. Turns out the center cylinder and piston were scoured. He had to have it repaired being it was just out of warranty and it cost him like $1700. Supposedly the oil was coming out the breather on top of the engine around the valve cover. When he went to pick the sled up another Nytro just like his came in with the same problem.
I checked around on here but haven't stumbled into any posts about something like this.
any thoughts?

Not sure. That's what was so weird. But how does another one show up with the same problems?
It was more like a oil/coolant leak causing the problem I think leading to overheating.

Never heard of any problems like that. In low snow conditions my Nytro seems to get hot sooner than a VK, but not as easily as an Apex. But whatever it is you're describing is not a common problem.

I've experienced the overheating issue many times in poor to moderate snow conditions but never had an issue with the oil leak etc. Let's all hope this is a rare thing and not another "common bug" with these things.

Well this is good to hear. Like I said I tried searching here on TY and never really heard of this. I have a buddy at work that's a long time Yamaha rider/owner. His dad and uncle used to own a Yamaha dealership which is now the one that sits on the former Haydays site. Anyways his other uncle is head service manager at a Yammie dealer and he claims he would never buy the 4 stroke 3 holer. He claims Yamaha tried to make a similar street bike motor years ago and they had issues with the center cylinder getting too hot and scrapped that motor. I don't know what to think about this but my response to him was "IF THIS MOTOR HAS ISSUES, WHY HAVE A FEW OWNERS SET MILEAGE RECORDS WITH IT"??

That's not the funniest thing I've ever heard, but it's close.
