Did they get you for 6.1% duty at the border ?
There is no duty, my dad just brought 2 yamahas in. No snowmobile has duty on it.

Mine pulls over 9,000 rpm. I'll check my sled and post the rest of the info tonight.
Personally though, I agree with Reaper. Seems like the same thing here as with what happens with guns. You always hear a story about one batch being manufactured to closer tolerances thus being more accurate, better made, etc, etc.

Tim;
over snow vehicles regardless of origin are 100% exempt from import duties. My sled was broken in hard. Snow could be like concrete & rpm,s were 8800 rpm.Like i previousely said...i have personally seen a difference in the way these nytro,s run. I have seen babied ones run very hard & over 9k rpm,s & tortured ones run 8800 or less & when racing together the higher rpm,s allways 100% of the time with out fail win the races.I just saw a large discrepency of the way these sleds ran(way more then the norm)& when I read the dyno-tech dyno report it kinda backed up what i was seeing. I guess if I had it to do all over again I would not have started all this.

Turk,
So do you think it is just the exhaust that is the limiting factor.
I ask this as we have 4 FX nytros and two have only been started for the intial 15 min break in and not re started (never ridden) What IF we find the two practice sleds are 'stronger' than the two race sleds! Can we just exchange complete exhausts and realize the gains those other sleds may been losing? FYI: Rules clearly state we must use stock exhaust so aftermarket is NOT an option. I wonder IF it's as simpe as different baffles in the muffler or how true the exhaust manifold is to the head, etc etc....

How bad are ya getting beat Mike

Seriously though, I find it extremely hard to believe that a simple stock to stock exhaust change will make any difference at all. Will run my tommorrow on the lake and let you know what I get.

Can someone do us all a favour and measure the outer diameter of the so called "fast" exhaust manifold. I find this all hard to believe. I will take some calipers to mine when I get a chance and will measure wherever I need to. If someone knows Aaron Excell, ask him to take some measurements on both of his so we know exactly what the hell it is we're supposed to be looking for here. Build dates don't mean *&^% IMO. :ORC

Hey Tim
I lied & made all this up just trying to help people. I saw a discrepency in the way sleds performed & this info made me think which obviousely was a bad thing. Just trying to help people out wondering why their buds are beating them & trust me; there is a big diff. I am just trying to help. please remove me from the ty tech advisor staus.
Thanx!

Page 14 of your owners manual states -
"Use the engine speed meter only when checking the snowmobile and performing basic maintenance. The engine speed meter should not be used while riding the snowmobile since the reading will VARY from the actual engine speed."
But hey, you can still tell your buddies they kicked your azz because you got a slow 8800 rpm sled. Whatever helps you sleep at night. I'm sorry, but I need hard data before I can buy into this theory. For what its worth, I could only pull 8600 rpms today in the heavy wet snow in +1C temps, I musta got a monday morning exhaust system.
