Octane?

Just browsing the owners manual on the 05 RX1ER, says to use 88 or higher octane? I thought most here were running 87? Whats the dealio?

My dealer tells me to run 87, but my 05 RX-1 ER manual also says 88.

I assume these motors have a knock sensor so this minor low grade fuel shouldn't be a durability issue.

I wonder if the timing gets retarded at all with 87 though? or if there's enough margin you still get all the power?

I have been running 87 in mine.

As long as we don't get your junk gas up here we are fine but Ontario is looking into Methanol.
