oil change difficulty

Question about oil change on Apex

Do you need to turn the engine over and pump any remaining oil out? or does it all make it to the external resevoir and drain when you remove the plug.

I use either the ground down #2 or a regular #3 but on a ratchet. I find you get better leverage while keeping tension on the screw head.
