Took the panel off the right side and the bottom was solid ice up to the oil reservoir and around chaincase?
Any thoughts... and is it normal as I see there are vents just in front. My nose was also full of snow.
Plus, can anyone tell me exactly or send me a picture of the fuse for the rear LED tailight is as it is out?
thanks
Jeff

i went into the pow a bit last ride and i found the same thing, i jsut parked her inside for a few mins and the whole chunk fell right out after i took the side panel off, i guess it sneaks in there lol i'm not worried about it, if u cant park inside heated then it could get annoying i guess.

yup i had the same problem after my first ride out...and no heated shop for me... I am planning on removing the foam in that area and also covering those vents with something... I am not really sure what those vents do but once I find out I will decide whether to cover them completely or just screen it...

screen the vent and keep an eye on this area, too much build up and you may have problems with the oil line at the bottom. Try too keep kleen.

I took all the foam off the side panels. I have had pretty much zero ice buildup there now. Its just there for noise reduction.

I didn't want to close off the vent because I am sure they put it there to help cool the oil tank.

what would you suggest to cover that with. is there a self adhesive stuff or just bring it in the house to warm up and then spray some 3m arosol spray glue and stick some prefilter material on it. what about the open holes up by the headlight, should one cover those too.

Ice build up also

I put 200mi on in Hurley Saturday and also had a massive build up in my right side panel. Couldn't even get the side cover off untill I took it home and put heater under it to melt ice.

I was pounding quite a few drifts today, i never looked however when i got home, just put her in the shop. I did see one nytro on the trails today though. Just comming into the PPSC clubhouse

ice and other stupid stuff

Thanks all
I did a bout 150 miles today and cannot even remove the panel
Have to melt it off with heater! What do you do on the trial other than break it off?
I think I will cover the vents and try it as I don't like the idea of 3" of solid ice around tank and chain case.
I have had Yamahas since '95 and this for sure is the most afflicted with stupid stuff the people at Yamaha should not have let pass:
Cold hands
Sliders burning out at 350 miles
Ice build up in tunnel and everywhere else
I see so many other little posts like starter relays etc.
Even today my sled would not fire (-25'c) has to wait about half an hour and try again and just fired and blew a load of smoke!
It has only 1800km's on it!
Confidence is not high and my three Cat buddies are very surprised as my others had zero issues with regular maintenance.
It appears you almost have to be very mechanically inclined to understand this generation of Yamahas as riding with a constant what next is aggravating!

I am starting to wonder myself if the Nytro was the best plan. I guess I feel you shouldn't have to do a dozen things to a brand new sled to get it to perform reliably.

I love the sled but, I guess I am holding my breath for the next hammer to drop.

nytro

I agree
waiting for something to happen 30 kms from a road in -30'c is always on your mind!
I will see how it goes over the coming months
any more issues and I'll let it go.
I know someone who has just let theirs go after 4 rides (650km)as issues every time like not starting, reverse not working, lights out and ice and slider issue.

Pre-filter over the two side panel vents and two hood vents. Duct tape over the vent in front of the oil resi. I hardly ever get snow in my sled now, even on deep days.
