Oil separator, major problem!

Do these machines have any sort of a PCV system on them to help draw out moisture?

Condensation is a given an any engine that is run in cold weather and this moisture needs to get "boiled" off and sucked out. With the pressurized manifold of a turbocharger a PCV becomes tricky.

I don't get it though Ive had 4 or 5 Rx's and 2 apex and one attack and there was nothing like this unit in any of them! I really wish they would put that motor in this sled!!

I just had a roll on right side and in about 30seconds I lost a qt of oil. Put the 4stroke solutions rollover valve on and problem solved at least as long as that mechanical checkball AC used doesnt freeze.

You have to learn to roll it over on the left side then you only lose prime! 2 weeks ago we had a blizzard and rode the next day. Everyone plowed their drives and some of the approches were 10' or high and no way around them. I must have rolled the thing 10 times that day. I was like a turtle on my back and could not get back to kill it had to re-prime everytime. I now have a tether on it but have not gotten to ride it yet.

You guys are building up miles and this will be a problem for you if you don't check it out and pay attention to this post! I tried to prevent this happening to other people but for some reason people just didn't read this or think it would happen to them cause they are not boosted. Well it happens to all! Please take this into consideration when doing preventative maintenance!!
Better when in the garage then out in the trail!!

Can somebody supply pictures of what this separator looks like and where it's located? How about a detailed write up with pictures on how to remove it,clean it, and re install it?

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures of it. But it's behind the lower part of the muffler. It's a black box with three hoses going to it. There is a ball inside of it. It's pretty easy to see. You won't see the ball...lol...just take it out clean it with really good break cleaner, parts cleaner and then drain it all out make sure nothing is in there except the ball bearing. Make sure it's clean!! Then put back together. It took awhile for mine to go bad. But I'm in the powder a lot. But it was unfortunate cause when I brought it to the shop they didn't know what it was, so it took a long time to find, then fix.

Thanks tim. Sounds like I could find it pretty easily. I'll be installing my can next week so I'll familiarize myself with the spectator while I'm at it. Could you pm me with some more info on the separator. Like when you remove it from the sled to clean it, do you simply just flush it out or does it split into pieces etc

Doesn't appear that we have an update on anything for our vipers other then the reverse update and fuel system recall as of yet

So Tim is the oil separator still in the same spot on the turbos or is it relocated?

It is relocated, under the hood above your belt guard. Black box. And not getting as hot there might be the cause of the condensation building up. But I have had guys tell me there stock ones were filling with water. Not as bad though. Plus I'm off trail all the time.
