oil separter how to fix it mine froze on me again leaking every is there a fix for

Recalls are for safety related issues.
Service bulletins are for other problems that yamaha deems sigificant enough to address.
You wont ever see a recall for this issue.
You might see a service bulletin but i strongly doubt it.

Srry for f word but is there a fix for it or no

Just remove box and spray brakeclean or even dish soap and water. Goal is to get any oil residue out which holds moisture. Then get it dry. Is a checkball in there that can stick.

Just a few drops of frozen water is what starts all this if the first place, so cleaning with water/soap might not be the best idea? Might be best to clean with something that displaces water like wd-40 or even dry gas additive.

Yes. That's why I said get it dry. Kinda worry about any chemicals wrecking it. WD sounds like a good alternative. That surely would not hurt anything. Good suggestion.

I agree. This wont fix the frozen air box but at least with MPI's bypass kit you wont push all the oil out with crank case pressure after the hose is rerouted.

Guys,
It is very important to keep the separator box clean to help prevent it from freezing even if you have the separator drain mod done.
During normal engine operation, there is pressure entering the oil tank via the oil pump scavenge line. The pressure is then vented out of the oil tank through the upper vent tube, past the check ball and finally into the air box.

If the check ball in the separator box becomes iced up, that normal venting path is now restricted. With the vent path now restricted the excess pressure is now looking for a new way out via the path of least resistance. On a stock sled where the separator drain is plumbed to the oil tank, the path of least resistance is through the separator drain. The excess pressure then escapes through the separator drain (and in the process pushes oil out with it) and into the air box.

With the separator drain mod, the original separator drain path to the oil tank is capped. Remember even with the separator drain mod there is still pressure entering the oil tank via the oil pump scavenge line. With the original "path of least resistance" capped off, the pressure (from an iced up separator box) has to find another way out or the pressure inside the oil tank will keep building until the point where it either finds/creates new path of least resistance or effects oil pump scavenge flow.

I dint know about this Can some explain what is happening as I'm only guessing hear lol
