This has been debated, and while I tend to think that a roller isn't really a MUST HAVE item. I have to re-evaluate my decision based on events that took place this past weekend.
Has anyone else experienced a broken or missing ramp button on their stock Yamaha Sec. clutch? Maybe it's a defect, but I would think that this problem would be a non-issue with a decent roller setup (HC-X, Pioneer, TEAM, etc...)? Those plastic buttons will run you $35.00 +/- IF you can get them on your trip. I recommend carrying spares, as they are very brittle components, and the vibration caused by a broken one is very noticeable.
Although this was a minor setback, maybe Yamaha should consider a roller as standard equipment? Given the date, maybe they have???

I installed a roller rooster to my secondary about a week ago and love it. Allows your clutching to perform more efficient and never have ro worry about wear or missing cam slider shoes. I wore out the cam slider shoes before and ended up spitting out my clutch bushing and taking out the jack shaft bearing. Needle bearing rollers should be OEM IMO.
