I have a good friend who wore a true open face helmet until 2001 when he bought his Viper. Years of shaming him (all of his friends) didn't work, his nephew hitting a guard rail at 65 and landing on the rail road tracks sure did. He was wearing a full face helmet, and still loosened tree teeth, mild concussion and a bruised trakia. The helmet (Bell wedge) was cracked through the chin guard, on the top and also the right side, no one wanted to think of the outcome if he was wearing a real open face.

Had a sno-force and switched to a HJC many years ago and never looked back. Going to be getting my 3rd HJC this year. I have used Scott, Smith and Spy goggles and Spy are by far the best out there for the price. A few of buddies went with Dragon goggles for this year. I might check a pair of those out.
