I picked up a mid-height windshield at the dealer today, put it on the Apex and there is a 1/4" gap between the shield and the light pod-right below the right side headlamp lense. All is good on the left side.

Appears the shield isn't molded correctly in that area. Screw holes lined up good.

Anyone else put on a mid height shield? How does it fit? Did I just get a defective one?

Am I expecting too much from a $80 piece of plastic?

was at a buds house, he just got his winsheild too after waiting forever for it, and it is the same fits with a big gap on the one side, and worse is he is in ontario $ 125.00 for it .

Was it a Yamaha aftermarket windsceen that you bought? I have an OEM mid height and it fits like factory. That is unacceptable and I would take it back and ask to exchange it for another one at the least. If it's not a Yamaha accessory and would just return it and order the OEM.

Mid-Height shield

Yes, it is the Yamaha Accessory mid-height shield. I plan to return it, and hopefully can exchange it for one that fits w/o any gaps.

Thanks for the replies!

I have the mid black with strobes and I have the same problem. The dealer has ordered a new one. Sounds like a manuf. defect and my replacement will probably be the same way...I will post my results.

Mine has a small gap on left side. It is not real bad , but is there. I might try to heat it up and bend it.

Mine has a slight gap. No biggie! Got other things to worry about like just being able to ride!

Pray for snow.

Mine has the gap as well. Probably just stuff something in there and not worry about it for this year but it sucks to not have a tight fit.

Poor fit

Got a second shield from the dealer, wasn't much better if any, decided to put a strip of foam weatherstrip in the problem areas, looks okay-better than the large gaps!
