Hope these skis work as well as you guys are claiming. I ordered two sets!!!! Waiting to see the new 15"x137" 48 lug light weight single ply iceripper for the new 2.86" pitch Ski-Doos. Supposed to be made the week of 1/8/08. Tired of the vibration issues with adding studs. The guys on dootalk seem to like their 120" Iceripper XT's. The new sharp studs sound like they really bite for trail use. Will need to order the 2.86" drives from the 06 ski-doo 440 snowcrosser to be ready for that track when it becomes available.

I got the 6.9's on mine this year. From what I could tell at the dealer the bottoms are the same as the 5.7. Just bolting them on and no other adjustments I pretty much eliminated darting and they steer very easy. Only time I notice a little darting is very crusty snow and only at speeds less than 30mph. You'll like em

ice ripper and pilots

Have the new ice ripper on my 06 RTX along with pilots, really like the handling and quietness of the ride. I live in Zumbrota and have 350 miles on with the marginal trail conditions

justinator, the 6.9's you have are not offset like the old mountain doo pilots? Do they have dual carbides on each ski?

snowbiscuit, yes the vibration I have expirenced with a studded track is the reason I plan to put on the new Iceripper XT. How does you std. iceripper do on our trails for traction?

Yes Mike they have dual carbides.......the outer holes werent punched but you could see where they would go so I drilled em out and installed some. Dealer told me the new sleds dont come with both anymore. The ski isnt like the old ones at all, its exactly the same as the 5.7 just a bit widewr is all.

ice ripper

With the low snow conditions this track really hooks up, I got it mainly for safety(icy corners).

Thanks guys, wished I would have known that about the 6.9's, I bet they float better in the snow than the 5.7's. How do the 6.9's perform on the trail?

Ordered the track from www.johnmaster.net last night. We'll see if its on backorder long.

Mike the pilots really are unique. That outside wearbar/carbide is like 5/8 or so higher than the center one. They can push a little but all you got to do is turn the bars a little more. Because of the tipped back angle of the spindle, the more you turn the bars, the more the outside carbide on the inside ski come into play. So then you have 3 steering carbides.

On a simmons ski, the more you turn the bars, the more it liftsthe inside carbide on the inside ski and the outside carbide on the outside ski. Turn the simmons enough and you may only have 2 carbides that are doing the steering.

I like simmons skis too, just pointing out what a clever design the pilots are.

How do you like the 6.9's in deep snow and ditch banging?

I just got in and spent a couple of hours playing in deep powder drifts and breaking a trail along the side of the road (in the ditch).

Last season I ran C&A Outlaws with a huge keel. These are awesome at letting you steer up and out of a ditch. With the stock skis on again I had a very tough time steering up and out several times (almost got dragged in and stuck a few times).

Do the 6.9's have enough keel to steer up the side of a ditch your riding in? When in deep snow I want to be able to steer...

BTW, the C&A Outlaws, while being very good in ditches and hard packed trail, the carbide design likes to snag railway crossings and the skis tend to wear quickly right in front of the carbide (making them even worse for snagging railway crossings). Still an awesome handling, very aggressive ski; but I'm not sure I want to run them again this season (unless I figure out something to stop them from snagging railway crossings...).

I havent been offtrail enough to really answer your question but the little bit I did I know they float soooo much better than the yamaha skis. They turn much better in the deep but this si just simple riding in some open fields, didnt get to put them to the "test" yet

justinator, have you measured the width of your 6.9's? I just looked at a picture you posted on another post and they don't look any wider than the 5.7's I just picked up. Do me a favor and measure the width of your 6.9's for me please. Did you ever get your machine to run any better top speed with your new track and extroverts?

I just put the 137" 1.5 ripsaw on mine with the factory skidoo extroverts. There wasnt enough adjustment to get the track tight.Had to relocate the adjusters back.I have 06 136" mono rails on my 05.

This set up rolls so nice.I dropped at least 500 rpm on the tach steady crusing. So it seems anyhow.I really like the desighn of the track clips with the holes to catch snow and ice.

I had the 1.25" 136" Articat quiet track on before fully clipped and studded. The 137 isnt as smooth as the quiet track but its better than the factory ripsaw.

Oh I dropped the top gear to a 22 instead of 23.the 8 tooth extroverts are only slighly larger than the factory 9 tooths but I wanted to try a little lower gearing, least untill i can get a turbo.

I got a little better speed on slightly better conditions, I quite certain the track just sucks at mph but the traction is insane when theres a few inches of loose stuff and just about the same as the ripsaw on hardpack. Off trail is wayyyyyy better so screw it I'll live with it, lol. One ting I never mentioned is the skidoo stopper will point the skis way up in the air. Some say to trim it and others say to leave it alone. At first I thought they were way to high so I trimmed about 3/16th of an inch off. today I noticed the front of my carbides were already showing a little wear. I put new stoppers in and tried it out with the skis up high. The slight darting I had is gone and the steering is even easier so I think leaving them untrimmed is the way to go. The skis measure 6 7/8th right berfore the spindle. I got my carbides from dennis kirk, they are roetins witha 1/2" bar the kit comes with 2 6's and 2'4's for $100 there is a kit for 80 but the bars are 7/16". pretty good deal IMO........Hey mike, those doo drivers for the 2.86 tracks are 8 tooth right cause 9's would be too big?? Let me know if theres anything else you want to know

Thanks justinator, The 5.7's measure just 5.5" wide. So yours are wider by 1.5" or 3/4 each side. I'm sure they'll float better in the snow. Yes the 2.86 pitch is an 8 tooth.

steve 05 RX-1, that is interesting. My Attaks certainly look like I could go 3" longer in track length pretty easily. I have 1.5" more slot to go before its bottomed in the slot now. Something must have been different with yours.

Ill have to do some measuring I just had put the 06 rails on at the same time as track swap since I had a cracked and bent rail on my stock suspension with tracks USa extension. The beefed up rails on the 06 slides looks to be much stronger.
