Hi all,

Looking for some help. I've read through every thread I could find regarding this code, but all the troubleshooting to date hasn't rid me of it. Generic OBD code for PTO side ignition coil voltage fault.

Bought a 2014 Viper LTX recently from a friend that hadn't rode it since 2018. It has 2500kms on it, was bought new from the dealer, and was babied. Stored in what was a brand new enclosed trailer and only recently pulled out when I bought it. It has some clutching work done, and some other performance upgrades, including an EVO flashed ECU.

I've done the following trying to eliminate the issue;

1. Replaced the old fuel, filled with premium.

2. Replaced the plugs.

3. Checked the ignition coil sticks with a meter. They all were within spec.

4. Moved the coil sticks from cylinder to cylinder. No change.

5. Cleaned the harness connections for both the ignition coils, and the ECU. They all looked brand new, without any issues with condensation or corrosion. No change.

6. Swapped batteries with a known good one. No change.

6. Swapped the ISC relay to confirm that it was functioning as normal. No change.

I called a local dealer yesterday and the shop tech said "it was probably mice chewing on wires seeing it sat for two years". No signs of this, and I'm 100% certain this is not the case.

Next up, I'm going to flash the ECU back to stock, as the extra performance isn't needed and I'd rather run a stock flash.

Has anyone ran into this? Outside of having it flashed, should my next step to find another ECU to test with? Do I run through all of the wiring? Any other suggestions, or words of advice?

Any help or direction anyone can provide would be awesome.
 

Check for continuity between pin q1 at ecu connector and plug at coil.
Also check orange wire.

How does it run? Does it skip?
Make sure there is 12 volts at the orange wire. The orange wire should be 12 v constant and the ECU controls the ground( terminal A ) to fire the coil. If there is enough length on the leads, swap the PTO and center harness, plug the center connector into the PTO coil and vice versa, and let it idle, the code should STAY with the PTO side if it a wire problem because the ECU still thinks it is firing PTO coil
Like 1nc 2000 said, if there is resistance or an open on that wire or pin the ECU will trip a code.
I dont know there where any issues with the EVO flashes........maybe if you had another sled to try that ECU in it could tell you if the ECU is the problem.
 
might have to pull the plug apart for that coil. bros phazer broke the wire inside the plug.

you could be right, it probably wont fire at the correct time. didnt think of that

unless you do a voltage drop test.....

I'll test this today. The sled sounds fine, but I can't tell if it's normal as the header and aftermarket intake make the sled sound different than stock. I'm going to get a buddies ECU to test with, just to rule it out.

Here's another post on that problem that might help. A reflash might help or you could just ride it. Back when my 14 was new it was throwing all kinds of codes intermittently I got to the point where if it ran I just rode it. Still a fun sled though.
I actually haven't had it on longer than a couple of minutes. I was going to rip it around the yard for 15-20 minutes to see if anything changes. I can do that in the next day or two.
