I want to paint a set of green plastic A/C idler wheels red.

Can it be done? If so, what do I need to do to prep the plastic and what type of paint do I use?

I don't want the paint to chip or wear away...red over lime green would make me puke!

I have tryed it on mine one year with some Krylon for plastic. It did not hold up and chipped away. I had to clean them up after cause it looked like $hitt. Unless there is some other paint for plastic out there, I would not recommend it. Too bad some aftermarket companys don't make a couloured HUB CAP that could be installed over your wheel.

Now there is an idea for some of you aftermarket guys :jump:

what about that new Fusion paint by Kylon? isn't that supposed to be for plastic

true. didn't think about the ROCKS! wait a sec get out of the quarry your sled will go way better on snow. lol. I suppose even the ice would kick the crap out of it after a season or so

Try this:

Scuff the surface to be painted with a scotch brite pad and clean with prep-sol or paint thinner. Use Rustoleum paint, bonds to plastic like glue and its enamel, tough as nails. Good Luck! ;)!

Thats what I tryed and did not work. The ice chips it off.
