Hello all! I’m new to the forum and was looking for some help, I’ve got a 2011 Yamaha Phazer MTX with only 1100 miles. I brought the sled out of storage yesterday to change the oil and noticed that I could push down on the rear of the tunnel and the sled doesn’t return back up on it’s own. If you pick the back of the sled up it will stay up though. I have the standard nitrogen filled rear shock. I looked the sled over and can’t find anything that looks broken, could it be the rear gas shock? Sled is completely stock other than a Barker pipe. Any help is greatly appreciated as we’re planning to go on a trip out west next month

I'd start with the basics - lube it thoroughly to reduce binding; ensure adjusters for torsion springs and front spring are exactly where you want them. I added some hygear torsion spring spacers and that helped as well. My son's Phazer MTX is very sensitive to suspension setup - and he weighs a fraction of what I do. I'll bottom out his suspension pretty easily. Good luck.

Thanks for the help! Lubing it up good seemed to help a lot! Is there some other place to get the hygear spacers?

Getting harder and harder to find Phazer parts. Had a hell of a time finding a windshield bag the other day...

This might sound silly, but is it on sled dollies?

Excellent point. I had mine on a dolly, placed toward the back of the skid. Couldn't figure out why it squatted so low. Pulled out the dolly, allowed the suspension to work as it's designed. Very different picture when flat on the ground.

Ok I feel really dumb but after messing around with the sled, lubing up all the suspension components, I took it off the dollies and it acts completely fine now! It must have been caused by the dollies and man I’m glad I didn’t spend a bunch of money buying shocks, thanks for all the help!
