Phazer snow buildup issues and pics

I chose to design the covers the way I did because the exhaust can get all the snow it was designed to get but keep snow, slush, and water off of my legs and running boards.

After riding this weekend, I definitively need those panels... :o|

Ermm the little hole in the back does not do all of that. That's any sled riding in lots of fluffy powder...

Now, is there a problem? Maybe, I'd like to see more powder and then decide. Riding in 10 inch of fluffy powder today. Notice the Doo, and notice the Phazer. My Attak looked like your sled before during one of the few times we got buried... I think the problem is the emphasis on the hole so people who've never noticed the powder before on their sleds are making something out of it.

I agree with you Yamahnator, it will happend on any sled! But, I think the side panels will help reduce the amount of snow getting on the runningboards!

A few times, I had difficulty putting my two feet on the running boards!

But again, this is not a very big problem!

i have a major problem with snow build up on the running boards and back tunnel area. this weekend we were boondocking in this meadow above tree line and every lap we had to stop and remove the snow. my biggest complaint. it the end of the day i also find myself using my trekking poles to chip away the mass of ice that blocks the toe hooks. also every lap we had to clear ice and pow out of the radiator. the fan kicks on and its like -10 out??

i'm installing a new/different CFR Double D rack with snowboard and dual ski holder, hopefully that wont fill completely with snow??

i have the yamaha saddle bags on my gt. they stop some snow from building up on the back of the running boards.

i ran my gt through everything i could throw at it in the last couple of days inclduing 24" of powder. a 50 mile trip through ungroomed trails. and a short trip through the swamp with 16" of powder and patches of open water 6-8" deep.

the sled runs effortlessly through the the most bumpy, twisty trails. it went through the swamp where nobody else went. i turned around and came out more becasue i was afraid to go in there further but the sled wanted to go.

the only time the radiator froze over was in the slushy snow. even then i think it clears itself out from bouncing around on trails. only once when i stopped was it closed off but a light touch and the whole chunk came out.

Hey JP, Do you know Dave at CFR? He's a good friend of mine. Let me know how that double D rack works, I'm thinking about getting one for my Mt Lite. Where are you in Co? I am in Aspen.

The only ways to eliminate ice and snow build up on the running boards is to produce the cheese grater type like Ski-doo and live with weak boards or run the heat exchangers underneath them like the Vector, Apex and RX-1.

I love my running board coolers. In certain conditions with hard snow they may not cool as well as tunnel coolers but all you need to do is ride over into loose snow or pull over and place snow on top of the boards or run scratchers off the skis.

I just installed half of the Yamaha accessory panels. Holy Cow! I couldn't do the other half 'cause pulling those rivets with a manual riveter flat wore me out. I don't think I could grip a Coke can right now.

I'll get a picture as soon as I have everything done. They look like they'll keep a majority of the snow off the sides and direct it to the back........right on the storage box.
