Phazer upgrades

fronts are diff. the viper has a clevis mount "fork" on one side and an eye on the other. the phazer has an eye on both.

does he still have that sled that he crashed and if so would he be willing to sell that center shock

ghost,

Please take the time to update your location in your profile, site rules.

Thanks!

I would call them coupler blocks. They actually replace the 3-position torsion spring blocks on the rear swing arm. They are a 4-position billet aluminum block. The part number is 210-510 if you go into snowmobile products and then do a search it should come up.

I assume these would fit the FX Nytro RTX as well ? I wonder if that extra 4th side would offer enough stiffness rather than changing out the torsion springs themselves ? Thanks for pointing these out SledderSteve ;)!

I cant remember what year Viper Center shock fits but its the year they replaced the shocks on them.I would think any shock builder could work with it since its probably same piston as Phazer.Honestly though the rear shock on Phazer is where the main gains are.Change the rear or get it revalved properly and its a 100% improvement.

Will any of these mods eliminate the common "saggy butt" on the Phazer ? I thought I read on here somewhere that all these need to eliminate the droopy droors effect is a good cleaning in where the suspension mounts up to the sled, and maybe some new bushings ? I'm taking the gf's 07 FX to the dealer this month, wouldn't mind having some knowledge to point them in the right direction (especially considering they say there's nothing wrong with the sled :o| )

if the shaft that the "link" pivots on, its all so the shaft ur innner front boggies are on, is bent you will see a sag in the rear end. it causes this because its changes the mounting point of the rear shock down up to almost an 1/8th inch or so.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to follow up on my findings from the Saggy Butt thread. Anyhow, I pulled the skid back out this weekend. I installed new hyfax and installed the new bushings. The bushings I pulled out and replaced from the front mounting point of the skid to the tunnel were in pieces. Everything is now put back together and properly torqued and all seems well!

BTW, if you are having the problem with the saggy rear suspension it's obvious when you compare it to a new model. So... if they have a new phazer on the showroom floor, it should be easy to make your case!

I'm also glad to hear that it's the rear shock that matters most since I just swapped mine out with the fx model and yamaha racer springs!

Regards,
Tom

Speaking of saggy butts!!!!.....I bought a GT for my wife who likes the light feal of this sled. The seat is too skinny and uncomfortable for long sit down trail rides. Has anybody come up with an aftermarket wider retrofit for this sled.

Thanks Tom ! I'll have the dealer take a look at the bushings in the skid mounting points and more than likely have them replaced. I'll also take a good look at a new Phazer and use it as a comparison, like you said, can't argue with that one ! ;)!

so what exactly does that x-click coupler block do?? i realize its gonna b stronger but any performance changes??

1- turf the windshield
2- hand guards
3- Radiator guard
4- mountain bar
5- rear shocks, front ones should be rebuildable the skid shock replace with FX shocks
6- tunnel close like terret said

If i were you I wouldn't put an exhaust, these litte creeps are freeking loud, I had an FMF slip on pipe on mine and it was ridiculus, had to change back to the stocker. as far as the tunnel closure goes a sheet of aluminium cut to size and 6-8 pop rivets should do the job. I'd also look at relocating the guage pod. someone on here has a tutorial for using the stock bracket for this. In my opinion the forth wheel kit is useless unless you're coming down on the rear axle alot or hitting some really nasty terrain.

just flip the stock bracket upside down and mount the gauge on the bottom of bracket. you might want to bend it back some, because its tilted ahead when its like that.
