Curious as to what your toe out is?
I had 5/8" toe out, adjusted back to zero

How aggressive are the pilot 6.9 skis? 1) Do the push at all? 2)Hold a line like the C & A Razors and Simmons?
Don't push and hold a line like a slot car

Well I have to give a shout out to Rockerdan for this thread. Had my doubts about the pilot skis but I was wrong.
Installed a set of 5.7 on my sidewinder last night with 6" shaper bars. Went out on the trail today expecting good handling in the twisties, but thought there would be a lot of darting and heavy steering. I was right about one thing....they handle very well through the twisties. As far as darting, there is virtually nothing. Fast or slow it doesn't matter, it darts less then my other setup with slim jims. The steering is much lighter than the tuners and C&A skis.
I am going on a 200 mile ride Friday and will report back if anything is different.
Below are a list of skis I have tried:
-Tune3 stock runners and shaper bars: Unpredictable and dart more than the pilots
-Cat ski with shaper bar and dual carbide: Handle well with single carbide but darty. Dual carbide will push in the corners
-C&A with Slim jims and Shaper Bar: With the shaper bar these skis rail but have heavy steering and dart like crazy. Slim jims installed the steering is light with hardly any darting, but will push in the loose snow.

Great to here buddy! I ran the 5.7s on my 12 cat procross and shapers, and loved it!Well I have to give a shout out to Rockerdan for this thread. Had my doubts about the pilot skis but I was wrong.

Ironically shapers on 5.7s on any DOO is a dart machine that needs alot of effort, and so I only can run a 5" round bar on my Doo....its awesome how much lighter the effort is on this chassie, one thing I always liked about the procross was steering effort.
Doo's extreme rider forward design is really hard on effort, and so carbide choice needs to be light. The pilot ski design is matched to the very rider forward doo....but funny how nicely they work on other brands, Also ran on my Apex for 8 seasons loved them!
Funniest part is they are cheaper then all aftermarket, and IMO better in almost every conditions with exception of maybe very soft berms.

I have a set of 7.5 shapers ready to go on my Pilot 6.9's Dan. I hope they aren't too much for this sled. I know I can blame you if they are. LOL!Great to here buddy! I ran the 5.7s on my 12 cat procross and shapers, and loved it!

I've had great luck with shapers in the past on my Apex and my Cats. They last forever! I never used them on any of my Doo's and this is the first time I've bought them in over ten years.hey hey....I did not install shapers on this SW! round bars only for me, not in need of that!

A setup which you may not have tried but since you have Cat skis you will probably like as much as I did is the Qualipieces dual offset runners on cat skis. This was preferred over the 5.7's on the 1100 turbo and turbo viper we owned as well as the 998 turbo rr we currently own. Tried tested and used over 1000's of km
Made in Canada sold direct from Quebec.

Just Got Back from 1400 mile ride in Quebec with my Winder with 6.9 pilots and can not be happier. It drove like I had power steering and wheels on it. No pushing, no darting, great flotation in deep snow and all with very little steering effort.
I have tried Tuners, Cat, C&A's and Curves and none of them worked near as well as these 6.9 Pilots ski's.
I have used 6.9 pilots on Apex's in the past but with the Winder it made a Huge difference. At this point I have just over 2200 miles on my winder and 1400 of them with 6.9 pilots.
If I can only say one one thing! These ski's make the sled all it can be. !!!!!

Thanks for the report Don. Now I'm a little jealous because I only have 300 miles on mine and I'm not going to Quebec till the end of the Month and our local riding sucks. How is the performance, belt life and mileage? Blew my first belt at 1300 miles and the second belt is still on it. I do have the helix shimmed. was getting 113-115 mph on the gps with all my gear and bags on. Not to bad considering I had approx 100lbs in extra weight on the tail end. Ran out of fuel at 118 miles and once at 123 miles. This is driving it like I stole it 80% of the time.
As far as the 850's guy's they are delusional. I have line up to 2 different 850's and I spanked them both from start to finish.
Track; 192 studs 144 in center 48 on outsides, Ski's; 8''round bar center carbide and stock 4'' square carbide on out sides.

Nice to hear you had a great trip Don! I knew the 6.9s would kick some butt on this chassie, same on my 1200!

I agree with this 100%(but only a few of them) and some are downright Unbalanced in the head! Does not take much when you read some of their bizarre posts! Haha

Thanks Don. I only raced one 850 and the traction was poor. He got me out of the hole by around 2-3 lengths but I reeled him in and by about 1000 ft I was pulling away easily. Whats with the belts blowing? should I be concerned?Blew my first belt at 1300 miles and the second belt is still on it.
